CNN's Tapper tapped for AMC role

CNN anchor Jake Tapper will appear later this month in an episode of All My Children. Tapper won't be playing himself, but he will play a reporter. The stint marks Tapper's acting debut.

In another "art imitates life" story, Jake Tapper, lead anchor and Washington correspondent for CNN's The Lead with Jake Tapper, will appear on All My Children this month.

Tapper will portray reporter Spencer Phillips from Business News Update. He will be seeking comments from Brooke English (Julia Barr) and Dixie Cooney (Cady McClain) regarding JR Chandler's (Ryan Bittle) bizarre public behavior.

The cameo for Tapper will mark his acting debut. He was on the AMC set to film a segment for his own show on All My Children's back from cancellation story.

In 1992, Tapper worked as a press secretary for Pennsylvania congresswoman Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky. He began his full-time journalism career as a senior writer for the Washington City Paper in 1998. Prior to moving to CNN, Tapper worked for ABC News, most notably as its Senior White House Correspondent. He is a three-time winner of the Merriman Smith Award for presidential coverage under deadline pressure.

Tapper's appearance on AMC will premiere on Monday, August 12.
