Actress Amy Carlson went through the wringer as Another World character Josie Watts, with the fictional police officer experiencing psychological damage after being shot and suffering a miscarriage after being pushed out of a window. But those plot twists might be nothing compared to the fictional world of rock 'n' roll!
Carlson stars in a new movie out this week called The Incoherents, which tells the story of Bruce Flansburgh (Jeff Auer), a bored, 40-something New York paralegal who hasn't let go of his dream of rock stardom. While slogging through an increasingly unbearable day-to-day existence, it dawns on him that the reunions of The Pixies, Soundgarden, and other alternative/indie rock bands from the 90s could inspire his former group, The Incoherents, to reform. The group, each mired in some sort of midlife malaise, reunite their 90s indie rock band for one last shot at stardom.
In addition to Auer and Carlson, the film stars Alex Emanuel, Walter Hoffman, Casey Clark, Annette O'Toole, Kate Arrington, Robert McKay, Margaret Anne Florence, and Christine Chang, with directing by Jared Barel.
The Incoherents is now available on DVD, Blu-ray, and all major VOD platforms, courtesy of Gravitas Ventures.
Carlson made appearances on Missing Persons and The Untouchables in the early 90s before landing the role of Josie on Another World in 1993. After leaving the NBC soap opera in 1998, she went on to star in series like Blue Bloods, Get Real, Falcone, Third Watch, Peacemakers, and Law and Order: Trial by Jury.
