Fans are sending well wishes to Robyn Griggs (ex-Stephanie Hobart, One Life to Live; ex-Maggie Cory, Another World), who has been diagnosed with cervical cancer: "My whole life has changed."
Daytime alum Robyn Griggs (ex-Stephanie Hobart, One Life to Live; ex-Maggie Cory, Another World) is asking for fans' help following a diagnosis of cervical cancer.
The actress shared her upsetting health news via a Facebook fundraiser page, writing, "I have been diagnosed with stage four endocervical adeno. My whole life has changed and I no longer can work."
She continues, "This is a horrible disease physically, but also mentally. The stress of not knowing what tomorrow brings is bad enough, but add the medical bills that insurance won't cover makes it worse. Any donation goes directly to the medical bills. Any help is appreciated. Thank you for being supportive. I am going to fight this, and please keep the prayers coming."
The silver lining is that just a few days after launching her fundraiser page, Griggs has nearly made her monetary goal. But she realizes that this is just the beginning, and every extra bit will help her in the future.
"I slept fairly well last night," she shared in an update. "Just very uncomfortable and it's hard not knowing what to expect. It's very odd. You feel like lightning bolts are going through you and the next you want to bake a pie. I'm just keeping my chin up and trying to stay positive. Thank you to everyone for your donations. I set this at a low goal but want to raise whatever possible I can. The bills are atrocious. I'm just going to take it moment by moment and keep smiling."
Griggs starred as OLTL's Stephanie from 1991 to 1992 and as AW's Maggie Cory from 1993 to 1995. Some of her other credits include the films Zombiegeddon, Shadows in the Woods, and Joey Hollywood's Movie Night 2.
