Lindsay Lohan returns to acting in holiday film written by Michael Damian

Netflix has cast The Parent Trap and Mean Girls star Lindsay Lohan (ex-Alli Fowler, Another World) in a romantic Christmas film dreamed up by soap opera alum Michael Damian (ex-Danny Romalotti, The Young and the Restless).

Christmas is coming early with the exciting announcement that Lindsay Lohan (ex-Alli Fowler, Another World), who has largely foregone acting in recent years, will be the star of a new Netflix holiday film! And the soap connection gets even deeper, because the as-yet-untitled movie was co-written by The Young and the Restless' Michael Damian (ex-Danny Romalotti).

According to the film's logline, Lohan is set to play a "newly engaged and spoiled hotel heiress who finds herself in the care of a handsome, blue-collar lodge owner and his precocious daughter after getting total amnesia in a skiing accident."

The rest of the cast has not yet been announced, but several behind-the-scenes positions have been revealed, including director Janeen Damian, who is also credited as a writer alongside Jeff Bonnett, Ron Oliver, and her husband, Michael Damian. The film's producers are MPCA's Brad Krevoy and Riviera Films' Michael Damian. (MPCA is behind Netflix's A Christmas Prince franchise, the streaming service's holiday film Operation Christmas Drop, and its forthcoming movie A Castle for Christmas.)

Lindsay Lohan got her start in the acting business playing Another World's youngster Alli Fowler from 1996 to 1997. She became an instant A-list celebrity after starring in the 1998 reboot of The Parent Trap when she was just eleven years old. Some of her other credits include Freaky Friday, Mean Girls, Herbie Fully Loaded, The Holiday, That '70s Show, Ugly Betty, and Glee.

Following a slew of personal issues and intense paparazzi attention several years ago, Lohan stepped out of the spotlight and moved abroad. She spoke about her acting career on CNN's New Year's Eve special in 2019, telling hosts Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen that she wanted to "come back to America and start filming again" in order to begin "taking back the life that I worked so hard for, and sharing it with my family and you guys."

Michael Damian originated the role of Y&R's Danny in 1981 and has played the character on-again, off-again since that time. Nowadays his focus is mostly on directing and producing. Together with his wife, Janeen, he is behind the film High Strung and its sequel, High Strung Free Dance. In 2020, Brad Krevoy Television -- a division of MPCA and producer of Hallmark Channel's hit series When Calls the Heart (which stars soap alum Jack Wagner [ex-Frisco Jones, General Hospital; ex-Nick Morone, The Bold and the Beautiful]) -- signed three Michael Damian holiday films, including Christmas in Transylvania, Much Ado About Christmas, and The Christmas Waltz, the latter of which starred All My Children alum Lacey Chabert (ex-Bianca Montgomery).

Production on Lohan and Damian's Netflix Christmas film will begin in November.
