Raul Davila, AMC's Hector, dead at 74

Raúl Dávila, who appeared as Hector Santos on All My Children in the 1990s, died of a heart attack on January 2nd, 2006. He was 74.

Though probably most well known to daytime viewers for his role on All My Children, Dávila also had a career in feature films. Perhaps his best known role was as a voodoo priest in 1987's "The Believers," starring Martin Sheen.

Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Dávila was drafted and served in the Army during the Korean War, stationed in the United States, according to relatives. He graduated from Tulane University in New Orleans and earned a master's degree from the theater school at the Pasadena Playhouse in California.

He returned to Puerto Rico for a few years, playing the leads in stage productions of "The King and I" and "The Sound of Music," brother-in-law Vincent Perez told The Star-Ledger of Newark.

In 1967, he moved to Newark and produced programs for the city's Spanish language television station Channel 47, including the long-running public-affairs program "Hispanic Forum."
