All My Children alum Kelly Ripa to release her first book, a funny collection of personal stories called Live Wire

Talk show staple Kelly Ripa (ex-Hayley Santos, All My Children) has written a book called Live Wire, an honest collection of stories about childhood, motherhood, marriage, and work to be released in 2022. The project promises to show Ripa "as she really is offscreen -- a very wise woman who has something to say."

Daytime fans knew that Kelly Ripa was special the moment she made her debut as punky All My Children character Hayley Vaughan in 1990, and she has continued to prove that she's spectacular during her 20-year run as a cohost on several iterations of ABC's talk show, Live with Kelly and Ryan (including Live! with Regis and Kelly, Live! with Kelly, and Live! with Kelly and Michael). Now, fans will get an even deeper appreciation for the accomplished TV star through her upcoming book, set for release on April 19 of next year.

Titled Live Wire, Ripa's book -- the first she has written in her decades-long career -- will be a super honest, comedic page-turner filled with personal essays about her career, her childhood, motherhood, and her marriage to AMC alum Mark Consuelos (ex-Mateo Santos). According to the official description, the book is written in a sharp and funny way that shows "the many dimensions and crackling wit" of the beloved daytime talk show host.

"Whether recounting how she and Mark really met, the level of chauvinism she experienced on set, how Jersey Pride follows her wherever she goes, and many, many moments of utter mortification -- whence she proves that you cannot, in fact, die of embarrassment -- Kelly always tells it like it is," says the description. "Ms. Ripa takes no prisoners."

Ripa's upcoming project is also teased to be "surprising, at times savage, a little shameless, and always with humor" and promises to show the actress "as she really is offscreen -- a very wise woman who has something to say."

Ripa has been a TV star for more than three decades, and it's possible that her new book venture may be her way of wrapping up her time being front and center in the public eye. Speaking to Parade in October, she revealed that she's been seriously considering an end-game strategy that would allow her to do much less work in front of the camera and focus on more work behind the camera in the years to come.

"I've been writing a lot," she shared. "So, my goal ultimately would be to eventually get off camera and start working behind the camera more in that creative aspect because I really do enjoy the writing process so much."
