Michael Nader, best known for playing "Dex" Dexter on Dynasty and Dimitri Marick on All My Children, has died at the age of 76.

The daytime community has lost another great talent with the passing of Michael Nader (ex-Dimitri Marick, All My Children; ex-Dex Dexter, Dynasty; ex-Kevin Thompson, As the World Turns), who passed away at his home in Northern California on Monday, August 23, from an untreatable form of cancer. He was 76.

Nader's wife, Jodi, confirmed the sad news of the actor's passing via a statement given to Michael Fairman TV.

"With [a] heavy heart, I'm sharing the news of the passing of my beloved, Michael," she stated. "We had 18 wonderful years together with the many dogs we fostered and adopted. Recently, Michael was so thrilled to reconnect with his friends from the cast of Dynasty during Emma Samms virtual event to help raise funds for Long-Covid research. He was a beautiful and fascinating man with many talents and skills. I will miss [him] forever."

Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Nader accompanied his mother, Minette, when she moved to Los Angeles to pursue an entertainment career. After graduating from Palisades Charter High School in 1963, he began pursuing his own career in the entertainment industry and quickly landed roles in several American International Pictures Beach Party films and a role on the TV series Gidget.

Nader's first soap role was that of Kevin Thompson on As the World Turns, a character he played from 1975 to 1978. However, it was landing the role of Farnsworth "Dex" Dexter on Dynasty in 1983 that forever changed the course of the actor's life. Nader quickly won the hearts of soap opera fans as the character that eventually went on to become the third husband of Alexis Colby (Joan Collins), and he stayed with the ABC drama until its cancellation in 1989.

All My Children came calling in 1991, and Nader famously took on the role of Erica Kane's (Susan Lucci) charming husband Dimitri Marick. The actor played the role until 1999 and returned two times in the years afterward -- for a short stint from 2000 to 2001 and during Prospect Park's brief online revival of the soap in 2013.

Some of Nader's other credits include The Flash, Law and Order: SVU, Cold Case, The Great Escape II: The Untold Story, Lucky Charms, and Lady Mobster (a miniseries that also starred Susan Lucci).

Nader is survived by his wife Jodi, stepmother Lillian, sister Stephanie, daughter Lindsay, ex-wife Robin, son-in-law Trevor, and granddaughter Juniper. A Zoom memorial will be planned at a later date.
