Mark Consuelos has wrapped up his run as the resident bad guy on the CW drama series Riverdale. The actor played Mateo Santos on All My Children for seven years.

All My Children vet Mark Consuelos (Mateo Santos) has wrapped up his time as a series regular on the CW series Riverdale. Consuelos' last appearance took place on the October 6 episode.

"First and foremost, I would like to thank Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa for this incredible opportunity," Consuelos told Deadline about his run on the series. "Never before has playing a character that was so bad, felt so good. Huge thanks to the Riverdale fandom, to the brilliant crew and amazing cast, whom I consider dear friends and family."

Consuelos has starred as Veronica Lodge's conniving father since the second season of the teen drama, which is based on characters from the Archie comic strip. The AMC fave's final appearance just happened to take place in the series' fifth season finale. Riverdale showrunner Aguirre-Sacasa revealed that he had considered killing off Consuelos' character, but ultimately, the show opted for another option.

So, could Consuelos return one day? Aguirre-Sacasa seems to hope so.

Consuelos starred as Mateo Santos on All My Children from 1995 to 2002. He and on- and off-screen wife Kelly Ripa have backed a primetime reboot of All My Children, tentatively called Pine Valley. That series is currently awaiting word on whether or not it will be given a green light to head into production.
