Good news from fan favorite Vincent Irizarry (ex-Deimos Kiriakis, Days of our Lives; ex-David Hayward, All My Children), who underwent emergency surgery on his head on Friday. The actor shares that his operation went well, and he has already been released for home recovery.

The daytime community is sighing in relief following the news that Vincent Irizarry made it through his emergency surgery on Friday and is doing well. The actor, known for playing roles such as Deimos Kiriakis on Days of our Lives and David Hayward on All My Children, took to Instagram over the weekend with an update about his health and a huge thank you to fans.

"In the spirit of 'Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans...' (John Lennon), I can honestly say being brought to the hospital for an emergency operation to remove a hematoma from my head wasn't the plan I had for this weekend," Irizarry wrote. "First, I want to thank all of you for your overwhelming expressions of support, prayers, and loving concern. Honestly, I am moved beyond my ability to fully express my gratitude. Your words of support and encouragement uplifted me through it all and continues to do so. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!"

Irizarry also gave a loving shout-out to his girlfriend, Yvonne Glisson, who was the one to deliver the news about the actor's surgery last Friday. As he shares, this weekend was Glisson's birthday, and his unexpected trip to the hospital put a damper on their plans.

"Again in the spirit of life taking priority over our plans, often with little notice, as in this case, today happens to be my beautiful love, Yvonee's birthday," the actor shared. "I am so blessed to have had her by my side throughout this ordeal and I am grateful for every day we've been blessed to share our journey together. She lifts my heart at the mere sound of her voice, as well as my spirit with her radiant smile and genuine soul. She's a magical woman through and through, whom I am forever grateful to have met."

Lastly, Irizarry shared that his operation was a success, and now he has begun the recovery process.

"I'm very happy to share with all of you that the surgery went very well, and in fact, I'm being released today," he wrote. "I'm looking forward to getting home and beginning the healing process. They say 'time heals all wounds.' Well, I guess it's time for me to put that maxim to the test. Sending love in abundance to you all."

Irizarry's emergency procedure stemmed from an incident that happened back in December, when the actor witnessed a man being violent toward a woman outside of a bar and decided to be a good Samaritan and intervene. Unfortunately, the angry man ended up attacking Irizarry, as well, which resulted in the actor being rushed to the ER with a serious head gash and a concussion. Though he was treated, the injury left fluid accumulating in his brain over the past three months, which ultimately required last-minute surgery on Friday.
