When the Kagurabachi manga first came out, no one thought it would blow up so fast. With a stone-faced protagonist, an enchanted sword, and over-the-top splash pages, it was meme material. People online were calling it “the next big shonen” before it even hit chapter 5. So if Kagurabachi left you wanting more swords, sorcery, and vengeance, this article is about 10 manga series that have that same vibe and intensity for your next read.

List of 10 manga to read if you love Kagurabachi

1) Demon Slayer

If you love Kagurabachi, Demon Slayer should be at the top of your list. The story is about two siblings, Tanjiro and Nezuko. Their family was unfortunately murdered by demons. The reason why they survived was because on that fateful day, Tanjiro decided to take a break and rest, and Nezuko might not have died, but she lost her humanity as she was turned into a demon herself. Tanjiro then joins the Demon Slayer Corps to find a way to cure her and get revenge. With beautiful art, emotional stakes, and incredible fight scenes, Demon Slayer delivers everything a Kagurabachi fan could want.

2) Blue Exorcist

In Blue Exorcist, Rin Okumura finds out he’s the son of Satan. But he is different, as he does not want to accept his bloodline and chooses to fight against his kind. That is why he becomes an exorcist to destroy the forces of evil. Rin and Chihiro are similar in a lot of ways. In the sense that they’re both powerful boys dealing with family trauma, magical powers, and dangerous enemies.

3) Vagabond

Vagabond is a fictional retelling of the life of Miyamoto Musashi, Japan’s most famous swordsman. It’s not about revenge exactly, but it’s about becoming the strongest. Musashi starts off wild and violent, but as he travels and fights, he starts to search for a deeper meaning in his life. If you love the quiet intensity and powerful visuals in Kagurabachi, Vagabond will absolutely blow you away. The only downside of this series is that it is on hiatus, but this should not stop the readers from giving this story a try, as Vagabond is considered to be in the top 3 in the seinen genre.

4) Sword Art Online

This one’s a bit different, but hear us out. In Sword Art Online, players get trapped inside a deadly video game. But the stakes are high because if anyone dies in the game, they die in real life. Kirito, the main character, becomes one of the strongest fighters in this world and takes on powerful bosses to survive and save others. It’s a fast-paced, exciting read full of intense moments and emotional choices.

5) Attack on Titan

This story might be one of the most legendary manga series of all time. The story is about Eren Yeager and his journey to fight for freedom. His journey starts when one day out of the blue, a huge titan ambushes their place, which leads to many titans entering a secure location and causing chaos. This leads to many casualties, including Eren Yeager seeing his mother get eaten by a Titan—and that kicks off one of the most intense revenge stories in manga history. Eren joins the military to take them down. The beauty of Attack on Titan is that it is unpredictable and has many twists that ensure that the reader is hooked to the story.

6) Vinland Saga

Set in the Viking era, Vinland Saga tells the story of Thorfinn, a young warrior seeking revenge for his father’s murder. Along the way, he questions everything—his goals, his morality, and even the nature of violence itself. Eventually, Thorfinn understands that there is no path to peace in violence and wants to lead a life he is proud of. If you appreciated the emotional depth and slow-burning character development in Kagurabachi, this is a perfect follow-up. Thorfinn’s journey mirrors Chihiro’s in its complexity: both start with rage but grow as they face the cost of revenge.

7) Berserk

If Kagurabachi made readers feel emotional, then reading through Berserk can be described as a life-changing experience. Guts has had a life of betrayal and pain and is known for his giant sword and thirst for revenge. In Berserk, he slices through monsters and men. This is a darker, more mature manga, so we recommend that readers be adults. If you want a deeper, more tragic tale of swordplay and survival, Berserk is the gold standard.

8) Blade of the Immortal

Manji is a samurai cursed with immortality. The only way to lift the curse? Kill 1,000 evil men. On his path, he meets Rin, a girl who wants revenge on the group that murdered her parents. Together, they hunt down her enemies. This manga is like Kagurabachi because of its bloody, swordy, and emotional storyline. Moreover, it asks if revenge can ever bring peace and explores the bond between two people walking down a dark road together. If you liked Chihiro’s determination, you’ll love Manji and Rin’s journey in Blade of the Immortal.

9) Dororo

In Dororo, the protagonist is Hyakkimaru, and he has the most bizarre life. Since he was born, he has had no body parts, yet he has miraculously survived. The reason he was born that way was because his father had sacrificed his own son to demons so he could continue to prosper. The only way the main character can lead a normal life is to hunt the demons who have his body parts and kill them. That is the only way to reclaim what belonged to him. In this intense and dangerous journey of his, Hyakkimaru meets Dororo, who is a kid and eventually becomes his partner. Dororo might be a child, but they are extremely street-smart. The story of the manga has many similarities with Kagurabachi, as it has a cursed hero, a dark world, and a never-ending battle for justice and wholeness.

10) Chainsaw Man

Chainsaw Man is a manga series by Tatsuki Fujimoto, and it is an action-packed, chaotic story. The story is about Denji and how his life changes when Pochita, his pet devil, gives him an opportunity to live as a half-fiend-half-human so that he finally gets a chance to live his dream. The only difference is that because Denji was brought up in extreme poverty and debt, sometimes his priorities are out of place. While there is no similarity between him and the protagonist of Kagurabachi, the stories are similar in context to their intense battle sequence and strange power scaling.
