The Infinity Castle arc of Demon Slayer has one of the most intense plotlines in the story. Many characters are pushed to their limits as they are fighting demons who are equally matched. It is the ultimate battle between good versus evil, and the story is nearing its climax.
This article aims to cover all the major battles that took place within the Infinity Castle, from the shortest to the longest, based on the manga chapters covered.
List of all the Infinity Castle's battles in Demon Slayer
7. Mitsuri Kanroji & Obanai Iguro vs Nakime

Chapters: 164, 182
Survivors: Mitsuri, Obanai, Yushiro
This battle was short but important. Nakime was the demon who was controlling the castle through her blood demon art. This was disorienting, and it was a massive disadvantage for the Demon Slayer Corps members.
Therefore, defeating Nakime was crucial, and winning against her eliminated the core defense of the demons. Mitsuri and Obanai had to rely on tactics rather than brute strength, as their usual fighting style was not enough to land a hit.
6. Shinobu Kocho vs Doma

Chapters: 140–143
Survivors: None (Shinobu dies, but her plan continues)
Shinobu heads on to fight against Doma with no backup. She had been preparing herself for this very day. Being fully aware that he is a force to be reckoned with and would unlikely be taken down by normal means, she relied on her intellect.
Doma was the very demon who had murdered her sister Kanae, and to get back at him, she had gradually infused her body with a potent poison. It’s a heartbreaking end for the Insect Hashira, but her death is far from meaningless.
5. Zenitsu Agatsuma vs Kaigaku
Chapters: 143–146
Survivors: Zenitsu
This was one of the most personal battles in Demon Slayer. Zenitsu's fight against Kaigaku was a battle of revenge and redemption. Both of these characters had the same mentor, and Kaigaku’s selfish choice to become a demon caused great suffering to their teacher.
Kaigaku saw himself as superior to Zenitsu and mocked him for knowing only one technique. But little did he know that Zenitsu was no longer the cowardly boy, and with an ironclad willpower, he ultimately defeats the demon.
4. Tamayo, Yushiro & Demon Slayers vs Muzan Kibutsuji
Chapters: 176–183
Survivors: Tamayo (mortally wounded), Yushiro, several Demon Slayers
While this is not the final battle against Muzan, this was significant, marking the first time Muzan directly participated in a fight. Tamayo, a former demon turned researcher, lures Muzan into a trap and attempts to immobilize him with a specially formulated drug to destroy his cells and reduce his regeneration. Although the battle does not conclude, it builds up a foundation for the final fight to take place after the castle falls.
3. Kanao Tsuyuri & Inosuke Hashibira vs Doma

Chapters: 157–162
Survivors: Kanao, Inosuke
Even after being poisoned by Shinobu, Doma remained dangerously strong. This is when Kanao entered and fought for her sisters, and finally was able to make a decision for herself. Meanwhile, Inosuke joined the battle, and through their teamwork, they finally managed to behead Doma.
In a final act of desperation, he tries to absorb the two, but his body fails him. Kanao seizes the opportunity and delivers the finishing blow. It’s a poetic closure to Shinobu’s sacrifice.
2. Tanjiro Kamado & Giyu Tomioka vs Akaza

Chapters: 146–156
Survivors: Tanjiro, Giyu
This was one of the most anticipated battles in all of Demon Slayer. Tanjiro and Giyu team up and fight against Akaza as the final act of avenging Rengoku’s death. Giyu finally unlocks his Demon Slayer mark, although that was not enough to behead the demon.
Tanjiro was heavily injured, but through his will and grit, they managed to fight. Although even after being beheaded, it seems like Akaza was about to regenerate. In that moment, he regains the memories of his past and regains the humanity he once lost to become a demon, and he chooses to let himself die.
1. Muichiro, Genya, Sanemi & Gyomei vs Kokushibo

Chapters: 165–176
Survivors: Sanemi, Gyomei (Muichiro and Genya die)
By far the longest and most grueling fight in the Infinity Castle, this is the climactic battle against Kokushibo, Upper Rank One, and Muzan’s strongest demon underling. Muichiro engages first but is brutally wounded.
Genya arrives to support but is maimed soon after. Sanemi, the Wind Hashira, and Gyomei, the Stone Hashira, take center stage in a visually stunning and emotionally exhausting fight.
Final thoughts
The Infinity Castle arc of Demon Slayer has peak tension and offers an intense experience to fans. The characters are constantly in a battle, as it is a showdown that the Demon Slayers finally have a chance to turn the tide in their favour and kill Muzan for good.
Finally, these heroes fought valiantly in the enemy's base, and their efforts were crucial as the fate of humanity was at stake. Death looms over everyone, not just the demons. Even in triumph, the Demon Slayer Corps paid a heavy price, reminding us that no victory in the Infinity Castle came without deep loss.
