Black Clover is one of the most action-packed and character-driven shonen anime of the last decade. From its humble beginnings following Asta and Yuno in a remote village to epic magical wars involving devils and ancient elves, the story has been broken down into distinct arcs. This guide walks through all 11 arcs in Black Clover, their chapter and episode coverage, and which parts have been animated, adapted into movies, or still await adaptation.

This arc introduces the world of Black Clover and its magic-based society. Asta and Yuno, two orphans from Hage Village, aim to become the Wizard King. While Yuno receives a four-leaf grimoire, Asta unlocks a mysterious five-leaf one with anti-magic. They travel to the capital and participate in the Magic Knights Entrance Exam, where Asta joins the unruly Black Bulls and Yuno is selected by the prestigious Golden Dawn.

2. Dungeon Exploration Arc (Chapters 11–21 / Episodes 14–19)

The Black Bulls and Golden Dawn investigate a newly discovered dungeon near the Clover-Diamond Kingdom border. This arc introduces Mars, a powerful mage from the Diamond Kingdom. Asta and Yuno each get a moment to shine and receive significant power-ups. The arc sets the tone for larger political and magical conflicts to come.

3. Royal Capital Assault Arc (Chapters 22–37 / Episodes 20–27)

An unexpected attack on the royal capital brings the Magic Knights into disarray. Asta allies with other units to protect civilians and seek the source of the plot. This arc sets up the Eye of the Midnight Sun as the key big-bad group and touches on nobility versus commoner tension within the kingdom.

4. Eye of the Midnight Sun Encounter Arc (Chapters 38–56 / Episodes 28–39)

Asta's squad runs into the Eye of the Midnight Sun in the field, increasing their threat level. This arc begins to lay some of the layers bare on this enigmatic group and sets up for a more serious tone. It's also where more of the Black Bulls start to see some development.

5. Seabed Temple Arc (Chapters 57–74 / Episodes 40–51)

The Black Bulls plunge (literally) into an underwater temple to get a magic stone central to the plans of the Midnight Sun. Fighting Vetto, a beastly villain, is one of the most brutal fights so far. Asta is gravely wounded, and the team is knit together under pressure.

6. Witches’ Forest Arc (Chapters 75–101 / Episodes 52–65)

Asta's injuries demand an unorthodox remedy, bringing the Black Bulls to the Witches' Forest. Vanessa's history is uncovered, and Asta acquires a new anti-magic form. The arc also includes a chaotic three-way fight between the Witches, Diamond Kingdom, and Eye of the Midnight Sun.

7. Royal Knights Arc (Chapters 102–149 / Episodes 66–93)

A tournament is staged to create the Royal Knights, a special force to attack the Eye of the Midnight Sun. This arc consists of thrilling battles, strategic duels, and significant power-ups. It culminates in the Royal Knights getting ready to attack the Midnight Sun's base. The arc was animated until chapter 93, and other chapters until Episode 102 all re-adapt the Elf Reincarnation arc.

8. Elf Reincarnation Arc (Chapters 150–228 / Episodes 94–157)

One of the series' longest and most dramatic arcs, this follows the reincarnation of the Elf Tribe into the bodies of Clover Kingdom's Magic Knights. Driven by betrayal and tragedy, this arc in Black Clover explores the kingdom's dark history and leads to enormous emotional and action-packed showdowns. Asta, Yuno, and their friends have to battle former friends taken over by elves.

9. Heart Kingdom Joint Struggle Arc (Chapters 229–260 / Episodes 158–170)

Asta and other knights start training in the Heart Kingdom to ready themselves for a war against the Spade Kingdom. This arc from Black Clover centers on new alliances, mastery of devil powers, and the growing threat of the Dark Triad. The arc concludes with a cliffhanger as the war starts. This arc is completely animated and represents the last arc in the TV anime.

10. Spade Kingdom Raid Arc (Chapters 261–331 / Not yet fully animated)

This arc in Black Clover contains the invasion of the Spade Kingdom at full scale. Clover and Heart Kingdoms unite to eliminate the Dark Triad. The major characters gain new transformations, and the arc delves heavily into devil lore. The history of Yuno and Asta is explored further. This arc is fan-translated partially in the Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King film (anime-original) but otherwise untouched in the main anime.

11. Post-Spade Kingdom Arc (Chapters 332–Current / Unanimated)

In the present manga arc of Black Clover, this story delves into Asta's destiny after the raid. New adversaries from other territories arise, and the last war against the devils starts taking shape. The arc continues in the manga and has yet to be animated.

The anime has adapted all arcs through the Heart Kingdom Joint Struggle Arc (Chapter 260) of the main series up to Episode 170. The Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King film is anime-original but occurs after the Heart Kingdom and borrows some of its themes from the manga.

  • Spade Kingdom Raid Arc (Chapters 261–331)
  • Post-Spade Kingdom Arc (Chapters 332–ongoing)

These arcs should be animated in future episodes, potentially in film or season form.

As Black Clover goes on, viewers can expect even more action-packed plotlines, cinematic power-ups, and heartwarming character moments. The world-building continues to grow, and the big mysteries—such as the complete backstory of Asta's abilities and the ultimate destiny of the devils—remain unresolved. These future arcs do not only promise grand battles but also greater exploration of long-running characters and the overall lore of the Clover Kingdom.

Whether the series comes back in a new anime season or through more films, the remaining arcs have amazing potential for storytelling. As manga content continues to move steadily forward and the franchise has a dedicated fanbase, Black Clover's future is brighter—and more magical—than ever. With significant manga arcs yet to be adapted, the show is hardly done, and the best chapters could still be in store.
