The title of this chapter is Limit Breakers, and as the name suggests, it is going to be heavy on action. Chapter 387 picked up the story where we see Asta and Yuno have reached a point in their teamwork that they are in sync as they successfully land an attack that ends up shattering Lucius' arm. This particular moment is important to talk about because a villain who seemed like an invincible god-like character has taken damage, and he is visibly bleeding.

Lucius immediately recognizes what’s happening, explaining that Asta has fully synchronized with his devil while Yuno has reached complete harmony with his spirit. Importantly, he has confirmed that Asta has now reached his peak. But then comes a chilling observation that both of them have managed to achieve this level of power and skill solely because they challenge each other to become better.

Then we see that Lucius is still holding onto his god complex as he calls himself the Supreme Wizard King. But this time, he is rejected by Asta and makes a counterpoint that having a title or divine authority would mean nothing. What is truly important is to be recognized and trusted by people, not ruling over them.

Another revelation that happened in Black Clover Chapter 387 comes from Yuno, who tells Lucius that the rival he wants to surpass is Asta, not him. Lucius, despite all his power, simply doesn’t matter in their rivalry. This completely dismantles Lucius’s worldview and shakes him for the first time. Lucius snaps, declaring that people without magic shouldn’t exist. Asta fires back emotionally, asserting his right to live an imperfect life shaped by struggle, and Yuno follows up by calling Lucius pathetic.

This chapter focuses less on talking and more on the battle sequence. The duo is attacking Lucius as a team, and everyone from Clover Kingdom is cheering for their victory. Now things are getting clear in the story that Lucius is not just fighting two very powerful beings but an entire generation.

We see that even Noelle in Black Clover Chapter 388 enters the battle and also ends up launching a clean and powerful attack on Lucius. This chapter comes to an end with Julius Novachrono reappearing, declaring that the “time of judgment” has come. Asta and Yuno strike Lucius at the same time, and he is finally defeated.

This chapter is mostly focused on the aftermath of this battle. In Black Clover Chapter 389, we see that Lucius confronts Julius, and he explains the real reason behind his defeat. It was because he was alone, then he continued to add that strength comes from people moving forward together.

Lucius disintegrates without redemption or backstory; maybe this was a move by the creator so that no one ends up empathizing with him. In the end, Julius used in powers one last time before he died. He ends up restoring the kingdom, reviving the fallen Magic Knights, and also saves Mereoleona. Now the future is entrusted to Asta and Yuno.
