Black Clover has finally released chapters 387-389, and it seems like the creator has finally given a conclusion to the final battle that had been anticipated for a long time by the fandom. These three chapters have beautifully woven a narrative that makes the story have a smoother transition towards the conclusion.

For one thing is sure, that since this final battle is over, it would be natural for a series to wrap things up. Chances are, the next installment will be focused on lore building rather than showing intense battles.

Interestingly, those who have read these chapters have some strong opinions. While one side is happy about getting a conclusion, as someone like Lucius is being defeated, this points to the fact that the biggest threat in the world of Black Clover is no longer an issue. There has been a fraction of fans who felt like the creator took the easy way of defeating a villain as strong as the epitome of evil.

Asta and Yuno's final stand

In the recent Black Clover Chapter, we see Asta and Yuno pushing past their limits and working together as a team. We saw Asta enter Devil Union at full mastery, while Yuno stands beside him in perfected Spirit Dive, signaling that both rivals have reached their absolute peak. The stunning color spread reinforces the moment: this isn’t just a fight, it is the ultimate “strongest vs. strongest” clash.

The combination attack ends up severely damaging Lucius's arm and forcing this antagonist to acknowledge that he never believed possible, that they have completely fused with their partners. Lucius regenerates, declaring himself the Wizard Emperor and claiming his defeat is impossible.

However, Asta and Yuno in Black Clover Chapter 387 outright end up rejecting that claim, and they take a step further by adding on to their point by saying that one recognized Lucius as Wizard King, and that distinction matters. The chapter ends with Asta and Yuno charging forward, declaring that their dream of becoming Wizard King will never be lost.

Noelle entered the battle in Black Clover Chapter 388

While readers feel a rush watching two strongest heroes fighting against the common enemy, the highlight of Chapter 388 was actually Noelle's entry. Everything that she has worked for now has been put to the test, whose character arc reaches its defining moment here. Unable to match their speed, Noelle chooses precision, something she once struggled with deeply.

Drawing on her growth and resolve, she fires a perfectly aimed water shot that strikes Lucius in the face, despite her magic running dry at the last moment. This was needed because her addition helped others to understand that this villain is not undefeatable. Together, Asta and Yuno in Black Clover Chapter 388 land a devastating slash through Lucius’s torso, sealing his defeat.

Now that Lucius is no longer a threat to the Clover Kingdom does not mean that things have calmed down. Because after a big battle comes the aftermath, where people will have to deal with casualties. Lucius’s death causes Moris to disintegrate, and the kingdom erupts in celebration. In a stunning revelation, Julius survives.

Yet the cost of victory remains heavy: the capital lies in ruins, and many Magic Knights are dead or dying. As a final act of helping the kingdom out, the wizard king Julius ends up using the last of his magic to revive everyone and restore the place.

Final thoughts

All the events that took place in Black Clover Chapter 387-389 can be described as the ultimate payoff, as the heroes won because of the fact they worked as a team. For now, it is confirmed that the series is about to get over as the next chapters will now focus on closing the subplots and give a proper closure to the main character's goal in life.
