Bleach has no shortage of formidable characters, but Jugram Haschwalth is a notable figure who stands out among the rest. Introduced in the Thousand-Year Blood War Arc as Yhwach’s most loyal Sternritter, he was initially an enigmatic figure with an unchanging expression.
However, when finally seeing him in action, fans realized how broken his skills were. Jugram Haschwalth is one of the most powerful Quincies in Bleach, with many believing that he is Yhwach’s strongest soldier.
As a child, Haschwalth was an unimpressive Quincy who was friends with Bazz-B. Having lost their home during one of Yhwach’s conquests, the duo decided to face the Quincy King and gain revenge. They soon got their opportunity as Yhwach began forming an elite unit of his army, called the Sternritter.

Shockingly, Haschwalth was scouted for this group by Yhwach himself. The Quincy King then revealed how Haschwalth was his right hand and had the ability to make those around him stronger. This was similar to Yhwach’s powers of redistribution and the main reason for Bazz-B’s growth. Having been judged special by Yhwach, Haschwalth joined his forces and soon became a valued advisor and the Sternritter Grandmaster.
In this position, Haschwalth is the Quincy King’s other half and oversees his army personally. He is constantly at his side and takes part in the invasion of Soul Society. The biggest testament to Haschwalth’s abilities is that Shunsui focused all his efforts on restricting him since he believed that the Quincy could overturn the balance of the battle.
As seen earlier, Haschwalth has the powers of soul distribution. This is similar to the Auswahlen, where Yhwach can take and give powers to others. Unfortunately, since Haschwalth did not know how to control it, he was weak in the past and only helped Bazz-B grow. After joining Yhwach, however, he fixed this and became the most important member of his army.
Haschwalth’s Schrift is called The Balance, and he has been granted this by the Quincy King. This is a skill where he can distribute fortune and misfortune to all those around him based on how “lucky” he believes them to be. The Balance is an ability that does not obey any logic as it solely depends upon Haschwalth’s perspective on how fortunate a person is. Ironically, it allows him to tip the battle in his favor any time he faces an uphill situation.
Along with this, Haschwalth swaps powers with Yhwach when he is sleeping. Consequently, the Sternritter possesses the Almighty at night. Through this, Haschwalth can look into the future of his current timeline. However, he cannot look at multiple futures like Yhwach or directly alter their events.
In addition to his special skills, Haschwalth possesses an immense amount of spiritual energy and has the common Quincy abilities like Blut and Blute Vene. He is a masterful swordsman with enhanced speed and senses.

Finally, Haschwalth uses a spirit weapon called the Freud Schild as his shield. It is highly durable and has the ability to absorb any misfortune dealt to Haschwalth. As a result, it perfectly complements The Balance and injures opponents' backs. This was seen when Haschwalth could return the wounds inflicted on him through Uryu’s Antithesis.
Is Jugram Haschwalth the strongest Sternitter in Bleach?
The primary reason why fans believe Jugram Haschwalth is the strongest Sternritter in Bleach is that he has never been fairly beaten in battle. The Balance is a broken skill, and paired with The Almighty, it leaves him one step ahead of all opponents.

Through this, Haschwalth could defeat Cang Du, BG9, and Bazz-B and overpower Uryu Ishida. Unfortunately, when he had nearly won his battle, Yhwach used the Auswahlen to strip him of his powers.
Therefore, there is a good argument for Jugram Haschwalth being not just the strongest Sternritter but also the strongest Quincy, apart from Yhwach himself. The only potential competitor he has is Gerard Valkyrie, who could take on multiple captains from the Gotei 13 through his “The Miracle.”
