The U20 World Cup’s much-anticipated battle finally gets underway as Blue Lock Chapter 330 opens to fireworks in Japan’s game against France. Fans across the globe are ready for this showdown between Isagi’s neo-egoist squad and the reigning world champion’s youth team, and this latest chapter has set up what may become one of the tournament's most intense matchups.

From the jump, Blue Lock Chapter 330 has France coming out strong with Charles Chevalier scoring an amazing goal only seconds after kickoff. Both teams are fielding their best players right now, Japan using the same formation from their 4-0 thrashing of Nigeria, while France uses their "Great Golden Generation" led by Julian Loki, the prodigy.

At the beginning of the chapter, the third round of the U-20 World Cup is starting. The commentators are talking about how France is the favourite to win it all, and they already have the World Cup (senior). The U-20s are going to be the future number one team in the world for ten years.

Japan comes out in their white away kit for the first time. After beating Nigeria, Japan’s performance has made them one of the teams everybody is talking about in the world. Isagi Yoichi is considered the future leader of this generation of players in Japan, but now he has to face his biggest challenge yet.

Formation and Strategy

Blue Lock Chapter 330 shows how Japan is set up with a 3-5-2 formation, where Gagamaru is in goal, and Aryu, Aiku, and Niko are all on defense. The middle of the field has Chigiri and Hiori playing outside, while Karasu and Tabito play through the middle. Finally, the attackers were made up of Rin Itoshi and Isagi, with Bachira playing a role as an option.

Meanwhile, France had a 4-5-1 formation with Hugo playing as the central point in front of Shidou and Charles, and Julian Loki was up top as the single attacker. This tactical setup worked right away.

Before the match, Loki smiles at Isagi and calls him an "egoist" since it's been a while since they saw each other. Isagi responds casually and gives Loki a degree of mutual respect as a fellow player from France. Then there's Charles Chevalier and Bachira, where Charles is making fun of Bachira because Shidou is sitting on the bench once again.

The pre-match exchanges showcase the contrasting personalities. Rin tells Charles to be ready for defeat, but Charles bounces back in a joking way. In these instances, Blue Lock Chapter 330 lays down the foundation of the psychological warfare that will play out between both teams during the course of this contest.

Loki kicks off the game, and before anyone knows it, all the French players are on a fast break into the Japanese box. They have an almost choreographed look as they attack together.

While this is going on, Hugo pulls off an amazing dribble and gets past Isagi and Rin before either one of them can react. When Isagi sees what Hugo is doing, he tells his teammates to cover the pass; however, Byou realizes that it's impossible to cover everyone because there are just too many attackers.

The Gremlin Shot

Blue Lock Chapter 330 reaches its climax as Hugo delivers a powerful through ball toward the penalty area. Japan's three-man back line (Aiku, Niko, and Aryu) is all waiting for it, thinking it's going to Loki. Aiku thinks he knows where the kid is going to run, and is too confident in assuming that the other French guys were fake.

Aiku also thinks he knows where Charles is, but then sees that Charles is behind Loki, running across the field to take the ball away from Aiku. Aiku sees too late that France had actually used Loki to throw him off, and Charles was coming from way outside Aiku's line of sight.

Charles unleashes his signature "Gremlin Shot," striking the top corner with precision. and finds the far upper corner like he had all day. France now leads Japan 1-0, only three minutes after the start of play. The Japanese defense breaks down right after the opening goal.

Blue Lock Chapter 330 ends with Japan trailing early, forcing them to respond under immense pressure. The eventual winner of this match will put themselves in a much stronger position to qualify for the Finals, thus using that pressure to push them forward. France has also made it abundantly clear why they’re a top contender for the championship this year.
