The Blue Lock manga is currently at the height of its popularity, and the primary reason for this is the shocking conclusion of the Neo Egoist League. The end of the tournament saw Isagi rise to the pinnacle of Project Blue Lock, but it also featured several heartbreaking departures from the program.

The main among these was Nagi, the lazy genius, who ranked 24th in the league and was eliminated. However, Blue Lock chapter 306 has finally confirmed how Nagi can return to football, though the method may turn him into a different kind of person.

As mentioned, the end of the Neo Egoist League saw Nagi’s shocking elimination after having failed to manifest his egoism to its full potential. Since then, Blue Lock kept giving glimpses into his return to ordinary life, where he could go back to school and live relaxingly yet again.

However, having experienced feelings of intense exhilaration and putting his all into football for a considerable period, Nagi was unable to find joy. He kept trying to convince himself that he was done with the sport, but his inner turmoil eventually boiled over, causing him to break down in tears and regret for not having tried harder.

Though Nagi is an immensely popular character whom every fan wished to see return, the hopes of it seemed slim. In chapter 303 of the manga, Ego had a conversation with Hirotoshi Buratsuta, the Chairman of the JFU, who tried to vouch for Nagi and bring him back. In response, Ego firmly refused, stating that he would stick with his team of 23 players.

Thankfully, right when all hope seemed lost, the latest installment of the manga has revealed how the prodigious athlete can play football again. At the same time, this may be far from the heartwarming return that most fans are expecting.

Nagi receives a double-edged offer in Blue Lock chapter 306

Blue Lock chapter 306 shows Nagi finally deciding to stop fooling himself about enjoying his mundane life and actively attempting to be let back into Blue Lock. He cycled all the way to the facility, knocking on the door and even camping outside till someone contacted him.

Nagi hoped to get in touch with his former friends, who could connect him with Ego. Unfortunately, his plans soon came crashing down. When Nagi tried messaging Reo, he discovered he had been blocked. Anri also spoke to him from inside the Blue Lock facility, telling him that he was cut out and was trespassing.

Forced to leave, all hope seemed to be lost. Right as Nagi began despairing, he was approached by Buratsuta, who wore an evil smile on his face. The Chairman greeted Nagi, supposedly having an offer for him.

While the chapter ends on a cliffhanger with no answer on what Buratsuta wanted from Nagi, it is a safe bet to assume that he is hoping to bring him back into the world of football. Buratsuta is a money-minded individual who is always on the lookout for profit. Though he cares little about the quality of players, he is aware of those who can generate him money.

This was the reason he asked Ego to bring back Nagi, too, having heard about the outrage over his elimination. After being harshly turned down, he has taken matters into his own hands. Buratsuta’s plans for Nagi are yet to be seen, but it is unlikely that the young footballer will turn him down, given how desperate he is to play.

However, joining the JFU’s schemes will most probably not align with Nagi’s ideal vision of football, given that they don’t foster growth and only look for economic benefits. Consequently, Nagi may be sent down a dark path, far from his dream of playing alongside Isagi and Reo.
