Boruto: Two Blue Vortex offered some major hints about what's ahead. And, to be honest, our main character's situation does not look promising. Chapters 27 and 28 are leading up to something very dark. Some people close to Boruto may die.Kashin Koji's visions have been both a blessing and a curse throughout this arc. In Chapter 27, he reveals something devastating to Inojin. There's a future where Himawari dies, and it's bad enough that Inojin creates an entirely new jutsu just to avenge her. The chapter 28 spoilers show panels showing this alternate timeline. Himawari is bleeding, lifeless in Inojin's arms, while he's completely broken down in tears. The thing is, Kashin Koji isn't just sharing random predictions. He's actively trying to prevent this outcome, which is why he's training Inojin now. The goal is simple but incredibly difficult. Master a jutsu that doesn't even exist yet as quickly as possible. And the only reason Boruto's sister might survive is because they're preparing for the worst ahead of time. The Danger of Knowing Too Much in BorutoKashin Koji talking to Inojin (Image Credit: Shueisha)There’s something interesting to glean from Kashin Koji and Inojin discussing how prescience functions in the world of Boruto. Explain to someone what the future holds, and it changes, Koji says. Even when sharing information with the best of intentions, events may suddenly spiral out of control. He dubs people who know snippets of the future “singularities,” and the more such singularities there are, the harder it is to predict what happens next.Koji uses a perfect example to drive his point home. Remember when Inojin almost died, and that moment caused Himawari to awaken her Nine-Tails powers? If Koji had warned Inojin beforehand, he might have hesitated or frozen up. Sure, maybe he would've survived that encounter differently. It's hard to accept that the route that hurts is sometimes the important one.Kashin Koji and Inojin (Image Credit: Shueisha)Koji is in a lot of trouble now. He needs to really think about who and how much he should tell them the truth. Things might not go well if he talks too much. He might not be able to help anyone if he doesn't say enough.Things get even harder because Mamushi is attacking Konoha earlier than anyone expected. That means Koji has already changed the future by getting involved. No one knows yet if these changes will make things better or worse.Eida's Life Hangs in the Balance TooIt's not just Himawari who might die in this arc. Eida is also in serious danger, and the stakes surrounding Boruto and his allies just keep climbing. Mamushi's entire goal is to consume Eida, which means she's the primary target. The manga panel showing Eida trapped in a tree with her eyes closed paints a grim picture of what could happen if things go wrong.Koji specifically tells Inojin that they need to change the future. At the very least, a future where either Eida or Himawari dies. That "at the very least" part is chilling because it implies there might be even worse outcomes they're not talking about. The fact that both characters connected to Boruto are at risk shows just how high the stakes have gotten. What makes this situation even more complicated is that Koji has already shared all the necessary information he believes everyone needs. From this point forward, the decisions fall on Shikamaru and Boruto. They have to figure out how to fight Mamushi and protect both Eida and Himawari. No more guidance. No more visions. Just their own choices and the hope that they're making the right calls.Inojin's new technique (Image Credit: Shueisha)Koji admits something pretty sobering near the end of Chapter 27. He says you won't know if your choices were right or wrong until you see the outcome. That's terrifying when you're dealing with life and death situations. One wrong move from Boruto or his team could result in tragedy, and they won't even realize it until it's too late.ConclusionSo Chapter 28 is looking intense. Back at the village, Inojin is seen with his new jutsu, and Mamushi comes sooner. The ramifications of altering the future are now unfolding in real time. Add to that Boruto upgrading his sword via the technology Sumire gave him, and, well, all signs point to Konoha about to meet a large threat head-on. It’s no longer a question of whether people will make it. It’s not who will survive.
