Boruto: Two Blue Vortex needs to emphasize Sarada's relationship with Sakura, and for good reason

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex has put Sarada in the spotlight more than ever, but one thing still feels missing: her bond with Sakura. For twenty-five chapters, Sarada has done a lot. She has fought Claw Grimes, awakened her Mangekyo Sharingan, and even stepped into her own as a leader. But what about her mom? It feels strange that the manga has yet to really show how Sakura plays into Sarada’s growth.

In Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, it’s hard not to notice how little Sarada and Sakura actually interact. It feels odd since family bonds have always been such a big deal in both Naruto and Boruto. We’ve seen Sarada defend Boruto, fight Hidari, and even confess her feelings, but we haven’t seen her talk to Sakura about any of it. That silence leaves a big gap.

Does Sakura believe her daughter? Does she support her choices? Or is she too wrapped up in her grief with Sasuke being trapped as a God Tree? The thing is, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex isn’t short on time to include this. We’ve seen panels of Sakura here and there, but never a proper moment where she and Sarada sit down and talk.

That’s a huge missed opportunity, especially because Sarada’s whole character arc is tied to becoming Hokage. Sakura stood by Naruto and Sasuke through their toughest battles. That experience could really help Sarada now. Imagine the impact Sakura telling her daughter she believes in her would have. Or how her story can change if she doesn’t.

In Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, Sarada has already faced incredible pressure. She has a lot on her plate right now. She just beat Hidari and is attempting to get stronger so she can protect the village. Naruto and Sasuke had to deal with the same kind of stress when they were Sarada's age. Sakura stepping in could make her story more balanced.

Without that bond, Sarada looks like she’s carrying everything on her own, which feels a little out of step with the themes of family and support that run through this series, and a couple of fans of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex have pointed this out.

Fans' reactions to their relationship in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex

Online discussions are full of frustration about how Sarada and Sakura haven’t shared a single meaningful conversation in 25 chapters. Some fans even joked that Ikemoto can find space for endless fight panels, but somehow avoids showing the mother and daughter together. Others see it as more than just an oversight. For them, it's an obvious plot hole. Sasuke is gone, Sarada is fighting for Boruto, and yet we never see Sakura’s reaction to any of it.

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex could even use this relationship to set up future power-ups. Some readers believe Sarada will train under Sakura to learn the Byakugou Seal, just like her mother did. That could help Sarada heal and keep her from going blind from the Mangekyo Sharingan. It would also finally give us more of the mother-daughter bond the story really needs.

Naruto did not train with his parent because of the Nine-Tails. Sasuke did not train with his parents because of his elder brother. And Sakura did not train with hers because there was not much they could teach her about being a shinobi. Watching them train together, fight side by side, or even clash in ideals would make Sarada’s story feel more complete.

And it’s not like Boruto: Two Blue Vortex doesn’t have room for emotional beats. We’ve already seen Boruto hug Sarada, Himawari step into her Nine-Tails powers, and Mitsuki struggle with his bond to Boruto. So why not show Sakura in a real way? Even if she disagrees with Sarada’s choices, fans deserve to see that conflict play out instead of guessing where Sakura stands.

Of course, the manga may be saving this for later. Some fans think we might get a training arc where Sakura finds out about Sarada’s Mangekyo. She could be the one to push Sarada to get ready for the big fights coming up. Others think Sakura’s absence is intentional, meant to build up to a big reveal or confrontation down the road. But Boruto: Two Blue Vortex has already gone on long enough without it, and readers are getting impatient.

The truth is, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex doesn’t need to reinvent Sarada’s character. It just needs to ground her story in her family, because that’s always been the heart of Naruto and Boruto. Without showing her relationship with Sakura, the manga risks making Sarada’s journey feel isolated. And for a character who’s supposed to become Hokage one day, she deserves better than that.

Conclusion

If Boruto: Two Blue Vortex really wants to raise the stakes and make Sarada’s arc hit harder, it needs to give us that mother-daughter moment. Whether it’s support, tough love, or training, Sakura’s role can only make the story stronger. Fans are waiting. And the manga needs to deliver.
