Boruto has introduced a variety of fascinating new jutsu that add to the lore of the Naruto universe while also enhancing the imaginativeness of the power system. The sequel, Two Blue Vortex, in particular, revolves around one major ability influencing most of the protagonist’s development and actions—Ten Directions.
Ten Directions, or Prescience, is a power held by Kashin Koji that allows him to look into multiple futures at the same time. It is an immensely broken yet burdensome technique that helps Koji formulate future plans and warn Boruto of what possibilities to avoid.
Kashin Koji is the clone of Jiraiya who was created by Amado for the sake of helping kill Isshiki. He was initially believed to have served his purpose in Boruto after facing Jigen and forcefully dragging Isshiki out of the vessel, drastically increasing the chances of the main characters defeating the antagonist.

While most fans believed that Koji had died then, after a valiant effort against the Kara leader, Two Blue Vortex revealed that he had survived due to his intense desire to live and save the world. That wasn’t all, however, as Koji also unlocked a jutsu crucial to the cast’s fight against the Human God Trees, known as Ten Directions.
Much like the other Kara members, Koji had received transplants from the great Shibai Otsutsuki’s cells. However, up till then, only three members had awakened useful abilities from them—namely, Code’s Claw Marks, Daemon’s Reflection, and Eida’s Omnipotence. However, on the brink of death during his battle with Isshiki, Kashin Koji gained Ten Directions.
Believed to be inspired by Buddhism, where Ten Directions refers to totality and everything in existence, this is a Shinjutsu that lets its user foresee multiple futures. Koji explains it as being capable of watching all the branch realities that could occur based on different decisions and events.
For instance, Koji has foreseen a future where Naruto died in a battle against Isshiki, after which the antagonist resurrected using Kawaki’s body and destroyed the world. Similarly, in another timeline, Kawaki had killed Boruto and Sarada, due to which they never switched places. This led to Code defeating Kawaki and the world ending yet again.
Ten Directions’ significance in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex
Based on its description, some fans may believe that Ten Directions is an unimpressive jutsu since it simply gives one a view of everything that could happen. When Boruto posed this same question to Kashin Koji, the clone shared that the most formidable advantage of the ability was intel.
Through Ten Directions, future paths that are known to lead to disaster can be avoided. Additionally, Boruto can also learn techniques that his future self would possess under Kashin Koji’s tutelage. Ten Directions’ biggest role in Two Blue Vortex, however, is its unparalleled contribution to the high-stakes battle against the Human God Trees.

Koji revealed that the worst future he had seen was one where Code lost control of the Ten-Tails, leading to the birth of the Human God Trees. Their leader, Jura, was incomparably powerful and killed Boruto in multiple realities.
His death triggered the series of events leading to the world's doom. As a result, Koji remains adamant about protecting the protagonist from Jura, helping him grow stronger in secret and working in a more indirect fashion to chip away at the Human God Trees’ strength.
