Chainsaw Man is an anime that has entertained fans with its combination of dark fantasy, emotionalism, and violent action. After the explosive ending of the anime's first season, people have been waiting anxiously to see the continuation of Denji's story. Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc is now poised to fill in the seasonal gap by adapting one of the most important manga arcs of the series, the so-called Bomb Girl arc, into a movie, providing closure and drama to the story of Denji.

Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc is set to release in Japan on September 19, 2025, and then roll out internationally. The movie will have a theatrical release in Japan through Toho, including IMAX release. The film will be distributed internationally by Sony Pictures Releasing (through Crunchyroll) across more than 80 countries. It is slated to open in select Asian markets on September 24, 2025, while its release across the world, including the United States and the United Kingdom, is scheduled for October 29, 2025.

Chronologically, Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc picks up immediately at the point where the season one anime left off, and adapts chapters 40 to 52 of the manga. Such a placement should ensure it is a canon continuation and not a mere side project. It is a cannot-miss treat for fans who have been following the changing story of Denji.

The anime has kept its original creative team in the production. Studio MAPPA will once again takes up animation responsibility, with Tatsuya Yoshihara as director and Hiroshi Seko as screenwriter. Composer Kensuke Ushio and character designer Kazutaka Sugiyama will also return, and the theme music will be performed by the famed Kenshi Yonezu (Iris Out) and Utada Hikaru, who co-wrote the final song, JANE DOE.

The movie starts where Denji has had a complicated date with Makima. Trying to avoid being caught in the rain, he meets Reze, a seemingly warm coffeehouse employee whose kindness slows Denji down. Their friendship develops, only to set off an element of mystery. Not only does the narrative arc introduce romance, it also presents the deadliest battle Denji has ever faced. There are the emotional undertones, but the situation plunges him into a bloody conflict with a mysterious new adversary.

Various trailers have suggested a build-up for violent action, and demonstrated how Denji struggles with opposing emotions for Reze and Makima. The entire trailer was shown at Anime Expo 2025, which confirmed the tone of the film as emotionally touching yet grotesque in appearance.

To boost pre-release hype, Crunchyroll will release two compilation films of the first season so that the fans can refresh their memory before watching Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc. This plan is inspired by other franchise releases, such as Demon Slayer, as the movie is presented as a continuation of, and not as a direct reversion to, the TV show.

In Spain, the film will be released on October 31, 2025, and a special new trailer will accompany the theatrical release, highlighting its big screen spectacle and commitment to maintaining the same format as the arc. The future remains open as to whether further arcs will be aired in the same format or on television. The president of Studio MAPPA, Manabu Otsuka, has indicated that the Reze Arc was selected for the big screen due to its narrative explosiveness and cinematic potential.

Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc is not just a film since it promises to be a turning point in the life story of Denji. The film aims to be the link and the catalyst for further stories of the anime. The film, which is set to premiere in Japan on September 19, 2025, and arrive in theaters across the United States on October 29, 2025, promises to provide the audience with high-octane action, emotional storytelling, breathtaking animation, and essential continuation of the saga. It aims to mark a continuation of the Chainsaw Man universe with returning talent from MAPPA and a strong soundtrack line-up. Any fan of the turbulent life of Denji will not want to miss the movie, as it takes the narrative to a new stage.
