The recent chapters of the Chainsaw Man manga were among the most shocking in the entire series. The War Devil, Yoru, regained most of her powers and declared her love for America. In a staggering scene, she recited the US national anthem, and the brutality of war was also showcased.
However, a recent discovery has revealed that Yoru’s connection to the country did not come out of nowhere, but was hinted at from the very beginning. The scar on Yoru’s face in Chainsaw Man is very similar to that of the controversial American defense contractor, Lockheed Martin.
This has led to speculation that Yoru’s design was carefully orchestrated by Fujimoto to comment on the company’s contribution to American military efforts throughout the world.

Yoru and America’s connection in Chainsaw Man
The Chainsaw Man fandom, renowned for its endless theories and deep analysis, has been left stunned by creator Tatsuki Fujimoto’s foreshadowing of the link between the War Devil and America.
Despite the Academy Saga having been serialized for over three years, and the noticeable facial differences between Asa and Yoru, fans only caught the subtle hint after the latest chapter. When Yoru was being beaten by the Falling Devil, she suddenly gained a power-up as the USA had reinvented nuclear weapons from scratch.
Soon after, she destroyed the Falling Devil and pledged her allegiance to the country. During this, scenes of fighter jets, bombings, and the casualties of war were depicted. As mentioned, Tatsuki Fujimoto had seemingly been planning this for a long time, since the scar on Yoru’s face is very similar to that of Lockheed Martin, who supply weapons, jets, and defense technologies to America.
Hence, upon taking a closer look, the once subtle hint becomes much more apparent, especially since America in Chainsaw Man developed nuclear weapons again despite Pochita having erased the concept previously.
In addition to being a clever piece of foreshadowing, Fujimoto also comments on the atrocities of war through this link. Right when the War Devil seemed to be becoming an ally to Denji, he reopened the conversation regarding her allegiances and dedication toward chaos and destruction.
He does not seek to make her a beloved deuteragonist or love interest, but rather to shine light on the fact that she is the very representation of war and all its tragedies. It also brings forth the possibility of the existing power structure being toppled.
Though Pochita had restrained her power in the past, countries could always create concepts yet again. Consequently, if America or any other nation were to continue their developmental efforts, other frightening elements could be brought back into the fray, further strengthening Yoru and the devils.
