Dandadan Season 2 has been one of the most highly anticipated sequels of the year and finally began airing on July 4, 2025, in the Spring anime season. The series continues the Cursed House Arc, where Momo and Okarun accompany Jiji to his home, which he believes to be cursed.
The first season ended with Momo taking a bath at the hot springs, where she was approached by mysterious individuals with malicious intentions. Meanwhile, Jiji and Okarun gradually began bonding and discovered a hole in the walls of the house, which was covered with talismans.
Dandadan Season 2 Episode 1 picks up right from here, introducing the dangerous antagonists of the arc and setting up Jiji’s significance in the narrative. It adapts chapters 34-38 of the manga.

Dandadan Season 2 Episode 1 synopsis
As mentioned, Dandadan Season 2 Episode 1 picks up from where the previous season left off, with Momo being attacked by creepy individuals with perverse intentions who call themselves Gators. While trying to fight back and escape, she is unable to use her spiritual powers properly.
Right when Momo seems destined for a grim fate, the structure surrounding the hot springs ends up falling on her attackers. While she is unsure of what happened, it is soon revealed that Turbo Granny saved her. The yokai had secretly decided to tag along on the trip with the cast and was enjoying her bath at the time.
When the Chamber of Commerce comes to investigate the site shortly after, they identify the Gators to be the Kito Family and begin pursuing the fleeing criminals. Meanwhile, Jiji and Okarun are visited by other members of the Kito Family at their home, including the head of the group, Naki.
They immediately take over the entire house, intimidating Jiji and questioning why he had left home. When Jiji tries to explain that he had gone to visit his friend, pointing at Okarun, the Kito Family gets outraged at the possibility that he could have brought other spirit mediums to investigate the house.
Right when the situation is getting heated and Naki pulls out a gun, other members of the Kito Family, including the Gators and a police officer who helped them escape, enter the house. Jiji continues to face pressure about his dubious ties to Okarun.
A particularly suspicious member of the family then goes up to Okarun and asks him about Jiji’s favorite football club. Though anxious, the protagonist is able to guess the right answer. However, their luck runs out when Naki questions Jiji about the girl who is accompanying them, forcing him to lie.
Though he tries denying Momo’s connection, the Kito Family senses his deceit. The scene shifts back to Momo and Turbo Granny, who are visiting the famous Tsuchinoko Shrine, where they run into Manjiro, the shrine’s caretaker and an aspiring BooTuber.
As he guides them inside the temple, Momo is disappointed to only see a small piece of snakeskin in the name of the Tsuchinoko. Manjiro then explains the history of the great snake Tsuchinoko, which is said to have been worshipped in the past by the residents of the town. It is believed to reside in a volcano, which would erupt whenever the snake got hungry.
To prevent this from happening, children were sacrificed to appease the snake. The last sacrifice occurred 200 years ago, after which the volcano hadn’t erupted. Manjiro shares how the shrine was meant to prevent people from fearing the tale of the Tsuchinoko and to stop more children from being killed.

Following this, Momo returns to Jiji’s house, expecting her two friends to be having fun. Upon entering, however, she finds them beaten, left on the ground by the Kito Family. Angered, she starts fighting, defeating most of her opponents with Turbo Granny’s help.
Unfortunately, she soon meets her match in Naki, who is incredibly fast and skilled. During their battle, Momo is pushed into the hole with the Talismans that Okarun and Jiji had discovered earlier. While she's there, the Kito Family reveals how they have been continuing the tradition of giving sacrifices to the Tsuchinoko for the past 200 years, and that the house is the main altar where victims are imprisoned.
Determined not to allow their ritual to be interrupted, Naki decides to use Momo and her friends as offerings. Momo’s surroundings inside the wall suddenly turn into quicksand, which suck her inside. While trying to help her, Okarun and Jiji end up pushing themselves and the Kito Family into the quicksand as well.

Everyone soon emerges on the other side, which is a desolate area filled with abandoned houses. Momo, Okarun, and Jiji are shocked to find that this is actually the domain of the Tsuchinoko, which is a Mongolian Death Worm in reality. Pleased with the outcome, the Kito Family starts doing a ritual for the great snake to eat its offerings.
Shockingly, the creature does not care for its devotees and ends up eating them first. Upon seeing this, the main trio runs away and takes refuge inside one of the houses. Dandadan Season 2 Episode 1 ends on a cliffhanger, as Momo and Okarun are struck by psychic waves, forcing them to the floor. Okarun then partially turns into his Turbo Granny form and jumps at Jiji.
