The Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle movies are one of the biggest recent anime events. Released as a trilogy, these films will wrap up the brave fight of the Demon Slayers to defeat Muzan and his Upper Moon Demons.

The first Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle movie, titled "Akaza's Return," premiered in Japanese theaters on July 18, 2025, with an international release date set for September 12, 2025. Audiences in Japan have already praised the film, commending it for its stellar animation and emotionally charged narrative.

However, what started as a celebration has now become a concern. This is because a recent report from the reliable account @AniRave on X/Twitter has revealed that the remaining Demon Slayer movies will be released two years apart. Therefore, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 2 is expected in 2027, and Part 3 will follow in 2029.

Concerns over the release dates of the remaining Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle movies

Although the release dates for Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Parts 2 and 3 remain unconfirmed, they have sparked intense debate within the fandom. The two-year gap between each movie results from Studio Ufotable's trend-setting animation, which far exceeds current industry standards.

The studio will likely add several anime-original scenes to improve the story, and instead of focusing on quantity, they are dedicated to creating a perfect adaptation. While some fans believe Ufotable should take as much time as they need, given their impressive track record, others are deeply disappointed by this news.

This part of the fandom thinks that ending Demon Slayer by 2029 will take away the series' excitement. For a story with just over 200 chapters that started airing its anime in 2019, a 10-year plan for a full adaptation seems too long. Fans worry they might face a repeat of the Attack on Titan situation, where the final season was split into several parts and heavily criticized for its slow release schedule.

Since the Infinity Castle Arc is an interconnected story where all the Hashira battle the strongest demons before the final showdown against Muzan, releasing the films this way could also affect the immersiveness and intensity. Viewers might lose interest or forget key events from the previous movie over two years.

Therefore, the debate over whether Ufotable's animation quality justifies the release schedule continues, with passionate and valid arguments on both sides. With Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 1 expected to earn nearly $50 million in just four days, only time will reveal whether its release strategy will be a blessing or a curse.
