There are several powerful characters in the Demon Slayer series. However, there is only one person from the current generation of demon hunters who takes the top spot - Gyomei Himejima. He is the most powerful Hashira, and that is a feat that only a handful of people have achieved in each generation. Therefore, it’s important to understand what makes Gyomei so powerful in the anime and manga series.
Fans were introduced to this character towards the end of the first season. Fans wondered how Gyomei even fought since he was blind. However, what some consider his weakness could be his greatest strength. Since he never had vision, he relied on other senses to perform the most basic tasks. Therefore, his auditory and tactile sensitivity is far higher than the average demon hunter.

Furthermore, his physical strength is superhuman to say the least. Gyomei had subpar muscle mass when he took care of children in the monastery. Despite that, he was able to punch a demon for hours on end, until the break of dawn. This indicates two things - strength and muscular endurance. He could punch the demon with a ton of force, and he did so for hours on end.
Furthermore, his mental stability is unrivaled. He never lets his emotions dictate his movements on the battlefield. He also created a Breathing Style of his own. The interesting thing about creating your Breathing Style is that it caters to your strengths.
Every movement was carefully crafted to amplify his biggest strengths. His power and precision also allow him to wield a unique weapon that keeps enemies at bay. This Demon Slayer character wields an axe and a morningstar that are connected by a really long chain.
He can generate a lot of speed and strength since the weapon is technically a ranged projectile. These are some of Gyomei’s biggest strengths in the Demon Slayer series. Gyomei is the most powerful Hashira in the series, who certainly deserves more screen time. Fans are waiting in anticipation to watch the upcoming Infinity Castle movies, which will give the Stone Hashira the opportunity to showcase his talent.

Gyomei Himejima’s fate in Demon Slayer
Gyomei Himejima suffers from a terrible fate in the manga series. Towards the end of the manga series, Gyomei succumbs to his injuries. The damage he sustained from Muzan’s attacks was far too critical to be treated. Therefore, medical attention would not have saved his life. However, there was a beautiful moment of closure for this character. He was able to make peace with the fact that those children died under his care. Those children embraced him in his final moments, and he passed away with a smile on his face.
Only two Hashira were alive by the end of the Demon Slayer series. However, Gyomei wasn’t one of them, but he played an important role in defeating Kibutsuji Muzan. The Stone Hashira’s death did not go in vain, and he did everything he could to save people’s lives and give them a chance to live the lives they want.
In summation, Gyomei’s heightened senses and his innate physical strength are some of the reasons why he is the strongest Hashira in Demon Slayer. Furthermore, he created a Breathing Style that played to his strengths. These are some of the reasons he is one of the most powerful beings in the anime series.
