The next-to-last issue (#387-389) of Black Clover delivered a grand finale to the epic battle between Asta, Yuno, and Lucius Zogratis, and early spoilers certainly caused a firestorm of conversation about the sequence of events leading up to this climactic finish.Asta and Yuno defeated Lucius Zogratis in the latest issues of Black Clover. While Asta has completely melded with his Devil, Yuno has reached complete balance with his spirit.The battle kicks right off with both rivals having just smashed Lucius's arms together through the combined force of their attacks. This moment is important, as Lucius displays visible damage in a meaningful way within the Black Clover final arc.Lucius kinda notices something important about their power. That is that both Yuno and Asta would have never made it this far if they were by themselves. Their power comes from their rivalry and pushing each other to their limits.Even though Lucius recognised their progress, he called himself the Supreme Wizard King and would always be stronger than both of them, no matter how hard they both trained.The Kingdom Rallies Behind Their Heroes in Black CloverMereoleona, Fuegoleon, and Leopold (Image Source: VIZ)In Black Clover Chapter 388, we finally get a full dose of action as Asta and Yuno continue to fight back against Lucius. The Clover Kingdom has come out in full force to support them, and all of the Magic Knights are cheering for them from their respective Squadrons.Noelle also steps into the fray at an important time. She reflects on how she used to struggle to control her magic and how her brothers would tease and bully her because of this. However, she now shows that she has grown and mastered her magic, hitting Lucius squarely with incredible accuracy.Julius Returns, and Judgment ArrivesLucius senses something about Asta and Yuno (Image Source: VIZ)A big surprise happens during the battle when Julius Novachrono enters the picture and announces that the time for deciding everyone's fate has come. He says he was never really dead but caged inside Lucius.He believed that the Magic Knights who had shown him hope did a better job at it than anything Lucius could provide as a way of saving people. He believes Asta and Yuno did much greater things with their deeds and determination to inspire the people.Asta struck the final blow with his devil powers when he cut down Lucius, whereas Yuno saved Julius using his Spirit Magic; thus, both Asta and Yuno have shown tremendous mastery and teamwork.Lucius Falls and Julius's Final SacrificeIn Black Clover Chapter 389, Lucius is beyond confused and can't come to terms with the fact that he lost to Julius in the other realm. He can't believe this happened because he had put so much time and effort into creating this perfect plan so that he would never lose to anyone again.The true strength of the Magic Knights is their ability to fight together and support each other, not through manipulating fate. As soon as their talk was over, Lucius completely disappeared, like dust in the wind, no redemption, no last-minute transformation.With Lucius defeated, the aftermath begins. Mereoleona, who was at death's door because her body was destroyed with Lucius, will die with her brothers, Fuegoleon and Leopold. But in his last act, Julius comes through. He pulls out his grimoire that has no cover to it and casts an enormous restorative spell that covers all the Clover Kingdom.The spell restored everything destroyed; brought back all the fallen Magic Knights, including Mereoleona and Jack the Ripper, as well as anyone else who gave their life during battle, and Julius says that restoring the Kingdom is his last act as Wizard King.Fans are now waiting to see how creator Yūki Tabata will wrap up the remaining plot threads of Black Clover and provide closure for all the characters who have been part of this long journey. The defeat of Lucius Zogratis marks the end of an era, and the spotlight now turns to what kind of future Asta and Yuno will build for the Clover Kingdom they fought so hard to protect.
