11. Kaiser Granvorka vs. Ancient Demon

Kaiser Granvorka doesn’t get much attention as a Black Clover squad captain, but he’s stronger than people give him credit for. His Vortex Magic was strong enough to make him a captain. But he usually gets overshadowed by the more popular names.

His big moment came when the Dark Triad released one of the ancient demons sealed in the Spade Kingdom. Zenon explained that these monsters were born from human hatred and power from the underworld. And this one could absorb mana to grow even stronger. With Julius needing time to get his full strength back, someone had to step up.

That’s when Kaiser moved in with his Purple Orcas and used Area Helix to block the demon’s path. The barrier held just long enough for other squads to evacuate people. It wasn’t a long fight, but it proved Kaiser could hold his own as a Black Clover squad captain.

10. Gueldre Poizot vs. Elf

Gueldre Poizot is the sneaky squad captain who can straight-up turn invisible. Unlike the other captains, he wasn’t really about raw power. He preferred tricks and shady moves. His selfish attitude made him pretty disliked, but his magic was no joke when used at the right moment.

After being freed from prison, Gueldre ran into his old squadmate Revchi. The two argued about the past, with Revchi blaming Gueldre for ruining his career in the Purple Orcas. Their heated exchange showed Gueldre’s cunning and self-serving attitude, even toward his allies.

Before the grudge match could continue, an elf burst in and attacked. Gueldre tried to talk his way out, but when that failed, he used invisibility to survive. Revchi sealed the elf’s magic, and Gueldre vowed to restore his lost dignity. It wasn’t a flashy battle, but it gave this Black Clover squad captain one of his most memorable moments.

9. Dorothy Unsworth vs. Reve

Dorothy Unsworth is probably the quirkiest Black Clover squad captain. She’s almost always asleep and doesn’t say much, but her Dream Magic makes her a real powerhouse. Her Glamour World can trap enemies in illusions so real that escaping is nearly impossible.

Things got interesting when Patolli set the last magic stone in the Sephirot, and Dorothy was possessed by the elf Reve. Reve used Glamour World to trap some of the Black Bulls, but they pulled a clever trick and imagined a copy of Dorothy. That gave the real captain a chance to step in.

Dorothy loved the chance to battle someone with the same magic. Their duel filled the dream space with wild creations until the spell finally broke apart. As her body faded, Dorothy actually thanked Reve for the fun. It was a short but memorable moment that showed why this Black Clover squad captain is so unique.

8. Rill Boismortier vs. Vanica

Rill Boismortier is the youngest Black Clover squad captain and definitely the most creative. His Painting Magic lets him bring anything he imagines to life, which makes his battles feel more like art shows. He acts playfully most of the time, but when things get serious, his talent really comes through.

Rill’s biggest fight was against Vanica and Megicula. After Megicula partially manifested, he painted Twilight of Valhalla to protect himself and Charlotte. It wasn’t enough, though. Megicula’s cursed blood spikes broke through and left them badly injured. Luckily, Asta bought just enough time for Rill’s spell to activate its hidden effect, reviving the captains and boosting their power.

From there, Rill went all out. He painted valkyries to smash Megicula’s army and even revived Gadjah to help in the fight. His creativity kept the battle going and showed how much impact a Black Clover squad captain can have.

7. Charlotte Roselei vs. Vanica

Charlotte Roselei is a reserved but tough Black Clover squad captain. She runs the Blue Rose Knights with discipline, and while she usually keeps her feelings to herself, her curse and her quiet love for Yami make her story stand out.

In the Spade Kingdom raid, Charlotte teamed up with Rill to take on Vanica. When Vanica mocked Yami, Charlotte snapped and showed off her True Briar Magic. She used Rill’s water and dirt to grow briars that trapped Vanica’s cursed generals and even restrained Vanica herself. Megicula was shocked that Charlotte had turned her curse into anti-curse magic, proving just how far she’d come.

Things got harder once Megicula appeared. Charlotte was run through with cursed spikes but was revived by Rill’s Twilight of Valhalla. She kept fighting, spreading her Blue Rose Paradise and battling waves of Dark Disciples. This fight showed Charlotte leveling up as a Black Clover squad captain.

6. Jack the Ripper vs. Morgen

Jack the Ripper was one of the wildest Black Clover squad captains, always itching for a fight and never backing down. His obsession with slashing through everything in sight made him dangerous and unpredictable. Plus, there was his relationship with Yami, which gave him a good standing with fans.

On Judgment Day, Jack got exactly what he wanted: a fight. Lucius and Morgen showed up, and Jack was ready to go. But things turned tragic fast. Morgen’s Light Magic ripped a hole straight through Jack’s body and severed his hand. Even with William trying to heal him, Yami knew it was too late.

Refusing to die quietly, Jack poured every slash he’d ever made into one final, devastating attack. His slash cut across the kingdom, tore through Guardian Angels, and even left a massive ravine in the earth. Collapsing, Jack asked Yami if it was impressive, only regretting that he never got to slash him. His strike missed Morgen, but it cemented Jack as a fearless Black Clover squad captain.

5. William Vangeance vs. Zenon

William Vangeance is a calm and respected Black Clover squad captain. He’s known for his arcane stage World Tree Magic, which makes him an important figure in the Clover Kingdom. His leadership of the Golden Dawn has earned him respect.

When Zenon and Spade Kingdom mages attacked the Golden Dawn base, William stepped in after Alecdora was quickly overwhelmed. He summoned a massive ash tree to shield his squad and swore he’d make Zenon pay for hurting them.

But Zenon’s Bone Magic was too much. William was trapped, and even after breaking free to save his subordinates, his divided focus left him vulnerable. Zenon recaptured him and dragged him away. Even so, William’s magic didn’t let his squad down. His Budding of Yggdrasil spell kicked in, healing the survivors and saving half the Golden Dawn. William didn’t win, but it showed that this Black Clover squad captain would always put his squad first, even if it cost him.

4. Nozel Silva vs. Megicula

Nozel Silva is a proud and disciplined squad captain in Black Clover. At first, he came off cold and harsh. Especially toward his sister Noelle. But over time, it became clear that his distance came from love and his selfish want for her survival.

During the Spade Kingdom raid, Nozel was tearing through Dark Disciples when he saw Megicula fighting outside. Realizing this was his chance for revenge, he flew straight into the battle. He arrived just in time to block a blood spike aimed at Noelle, then unleashed a storm of Silver Spears.

Megicula tried to fight back with Steel and Blood Magic, but Nozel refused to let up until he shattered the devil’s body and exposed its heart. That gave Noelle the opening to land the final strike and finish Megicula for good. As the devil crumbled, Acier’s soul appeared, giving her kids one last hug before fading away.

3. Fuegoleon Vermillion vs. Elf

Fuegoleon Vermillion is one of the most reliable and level-headed Black Clover squad captains around. He’s cool and reliable, and his Fire Magic is one of the most powerful in the Clover Kingdom. When he got knocked into a coma early on, it created a huge gap in both his team and the plot, highlighting just how crucial he truly is.

His major comeback happened when the Crimson Lion base was surrounded by fire. Leopold thought it was an enemy attack. Until Fuegoleon stepped out of the blaze with Salamander at his side, stronger than ever. Declaring he wouldn’t lose again, he stepped in to fight Randall, who was being controlled by an elf.

Fuegoleon admitted he was still adjusting to Salamander’s power, but it quickly proved overwhelming, restraining Randall and saving his vice-captain. The squad cheered their captain’s comeback, while Leopold swore he’d one day surpass him. Fuegoleon, though, knew this was just the beginning of bigger battles.

2. Mereoleona Vermillion vs. Five Elves

Mereoleona Vermillion is the fiery and fearless Black Clover squad captain who temporarily led the Crimson Lions. Her pure strength and never-say-never spirit made her one of the most dependable fighters in the series. She loves to fight and loves to fight against strong opponents.

Mereoleona Vermillion doesn’t back down from anyone. When Asta and Zora wanted to stay and save their comrades, Mereoleona made the call. She literally threw them out of the room and sealed the exit so she could take on five elves by herself. To her, they weren’t helping at all. They were just in her way.

The elves threw everything at her: sleep spells, sand traps, and huge blasts of magic. Even wounded and knocked down, Mereoleona kept getting back up, grinning like she lived for the fight. She even unleashed a massive spell that shook the whole room, proving she’d rather burn out than give in. By the time Asta and Zora came back, she was still standing, daring the elves to try again.

1. Yami Sukehiro vs. Dante

Yami Sukehiro is the most popular Black Clover squad captain. He’s rough around the edges, but his leadership and ability to inspire his squad make him unforgettable. His Dark Magic and his "surpass your limits" mindset set him apart from others.

When Dante showed up at the Black Bulls’ base, things got ugly fast. The squad did their best to hold him off, but even with Vanessa, Gauche, Grey, and Asta giving it everything they had, Dante’s Gravity Magic and regeneration made him practically unstoppable. Just when things looked hopeless, Yami finally arrived.

Yami wasted no time, clashing with Dante head-on in a brutal fight that showed off his insane Dark Magic and Mana Zone skills. Even though Dante could heal every wound, Yami kept pushing, refusing to let anyone in his squad be taken. Realizing he couldn’t finish the job alone, Yami called on Asta to fight beside him. Together, the two of them landed the blow that ultimately brought Dante down. Their victory didn’t last long, as Zenon appeared and took Yami and Dante.

Conclusion

The best fight of each Black Clover squad captain shows what makes them special. Some battles focus on their growth, while others highlight their raw power or leadership. Ranked together, these fights tell the story of why the captains are so important to the Clover Kingdom.
