Dragon Ball Deliverance is a fan-made animated series that breathes new life into the Dragon Ball universe. It’s not an official release from Toei Animation or Akira Toriyama. The first episode was released six years ago and garnered significant attention from anime and Dragon Ball fans.

The Notorious Luke created the web series Dragon Ball Deliverance and has freely posted it on YouTube. The series takes place many years after Dragon Ball GT and shows how the characters have evolved over time, as well as the new challenges they face.

Dragon Ball Deliverance follows the Z Fighters as they respond to a call for help from Planet Namek. However, the Namekians they encounter aren't what they initially seem. As is common in the Dragon Ball style, both new and old enemies appear, and the team must confront them. Classic heroes like Vegeta and Gohan return, along with new villains such as Commander Daiko and the Gargoyle. Fans of Dragon Ball Z and GT will notice darker themes and more intense emotional stakes than usual.

Dragon Ball Deliverance has released four episodes so far: Emergency, Scattered, Acquired, and Legacies. Each episode shows significant improvements in animation, art, and fight choreography. The first episode appears to be a beginner’s effort, but by Episode 4, the animation becomes smooth and cinematic. Many fans have noted the significant improvement of the series over time, referring to it as an “art evolution.” The fight scenes (especially Vegeta vs. Broly and Uub vs. Corpio) feel intense, with lasting injuries and tension.

Dragon Ball Deliverance also reintroduces some major characters in surprising ways. Broly returns, this time as a Super Saiyan 3. He’s more violent than ever, and his fights are some of the wildest in the series. Vegeta, who now has both Super Saiyan 3 and Super Saiyan 4 forms, finally gains the upper hand on Broly in a battle that fans have called one of the best in fan animation.

Piccolo is also resurrected and demonstrates just how powerful he’s become, enough to go head-to-head with a corrupted Gohan. Dragon Ball Deliverance gives characters like Pan, Bra (Bulla), Uub, Goten, and Trunks real moments to shine. Gotenks returns, and the fusion dance is used again in battle. Uub, or Majuub, has mastered his Majin powers and even shows off a healing ability.

Pan and Bra fight together, demonstrating how different yet capable they have become. Even minor characters are well-developed, making it feel like every fighter matters. One fan noted that the show provided Namekians with more backstory than the entire Dragon Ball series ever did.

Dragon Ball Deliverance also expands on the history of the Namekians. In Episode 4, we learn about the golden age of Namekian civilization and their connection to powerful creatures like the Gargoyle. The Namekians created the Gargoyle as a living weapon, and now it has returned for revenge. This look into Namekian history adds a unique twist that sets the series apart from other fan projects.

Fans' Opinions on Dragon Ball Deliverance

Dragon Ball Deliverance isn’t without criticism. Some fans find the story gets a bit too dark, even darker than Dragon Ball Z’s edgier moments. Others dislike some of the new villain designs, saying they don’t quite match the traditional Dragon Ball style. However, most agree that the animation is fantastic, and that the fights have real impact.

Unlike Dragon Ball Super, where injuries are hardly a concern, this series portrays the lasting effects of damage. One reviewer said that Vegeta’s new move, the “Royal Spear,” was a standout moment. Others praised the animation as nearly on par with that of the Dragon Ball Super: Broly movie.

Dragon Ball Deliverance does have one major drawback: its release schedule. The episodes take a long time to come out. Some fans find the wait tough, but they understand the effort that goes into the animation. Despite the slow pace, each new episode generates excitement. They just wish it happened more often.

Conclusion

Dragon Ball Deliverance holds a special place for fans who grew up with the series and have always yearned for more. It’s both respectful to the original material and daring to a bold extent. Whether you’re here for the action, character growth, or lore, there’s something for everyone. It’s a fan project, but it still captures the same spirit as the original series. If you’re a Dragon Ball fan, this series is definitely worth checking out.
