During its 10th anniversary event in Japan, Netflix announced that the upcoming Baki Hanma sequel will stream only on the platform in 2026. The information came with substantial fanfare in Shibuya, marking a major milestone for both Netflix's anime portfolio and the Baki franchise.

TMS Entertainment will bear the animation, maintaining the same high-quality visuals seen in previous seasons. The studio has always demonstrated amazing animation for the franchise, maintaining the series' prestige for dynamic fight sequences and thorough character designs.

The new Baki Hanma sequel acclimates the fourth manga in Keisuke Itagaki's series, which initially ran from 2014 to 2018 in Weekly Shonen Champion. This distinct storyline presents one of Japan's most legendary historical figures in the modern Baki universe.

The story follows the revival of Miyamoto Musashi, Japan’s greatest swordsman, regenerated from a single cell and emerging beneath Tokyo Skytree through a mysterious scheme. This legendary warrior obtains exceptional swordsmanship skills and devastating speed to challenge Baki and his fellow fighters in ways they've never undergone before.

After Baki's climactic battle with his father, Yujiro Hanma, the underground fighters find themselves haggling with overwhelming boredom. The new Baki Hanma sequel addresses this narrative gap by orienting a threat that spans time periods, beginning with fresh motivation for these powerful fighters.

Cast and Character Returns

Nobunaga Shimazaki returns as Baki Hanma, preserving continuity for the series’ protagonist. The voice actor's account has been rudimentary to the character's growth throughout the recent anime adaptations.

The Baki-Dou will feature returning fighters, including Doppo Orochi, Jack Hanma, and Kaoru Hanayama. These founding characters will face the outstanding challenge of adapting their modern fighting techniques to battle a master swordsman from feudal Japan.

While the voice actor for Miyamoto Musashi stays unannounced, this casting option conveys one of the most consequential additions to the series. The character's historical importance and legendary status make this voice acting section vital for the new Baki Hanma sequel's success.

What Makes This Season Unique

Unlike the last season, which focused largely on hand-to-hand combat and modern martial arts, the new Baki Hanma sequel proposes weapon-based fighting through Miyamoto Musashi's legendary sword techniques. This illustrates the most prominent departure from the franchise's established directions.

With its 2026 release date, fans have tangible time to organize for what appears to be the most ambitious season yet. This new installment highlights Netflix’s ongoing commitment to expanding its anime lineup.
