Gachiakuta is one of the most imaginative manga to be released in recent history, with its anime scheduled to come out in the Summer 2025 season. The series revolves around the events at the Abyss, a wasteland filled with trash dumped by higher-class individuals living in the sphere.
Rudo Surebrec is the protagonist of Gachiakuta, initially a resident of the sphere, but was thrown into the Abyss after being framed for murdering his father. While originally an angsty and short-tempered orphan, Rudo was raised lovingly by his adoptive father, Regto, who taught him to open his heart to others.
Unfortunately, his world soon came crashing down after he witnessed his father’s murder and was caught at the scene of the crime. Since Rudo was discriminated against for being a person from the slums, no one questioned his guilt, and he was instantly exiled to the abyss.

Having seen the dark face of society, he became enveloped by hatred, promising to gain revenge not just on Regto’s killers, but humanity as a whole. After falling into the Abyss, Rudo was initially an angry and distrustful individual whose only goal was to return to the Sphere as quickly as possible.
However, he began undergoing a drastic change after meeting Enjin and joining the Cleaners. As part of this organization that took care of the monstrous trash beasts, Rudo began recognizing the fault in his ways, the same that Regto had tried to fix earlier.
With the help of characters such as Zanka, Griss, and Riyo, he began the slow yet steady path towards his development yet again. Therefore, as seen from this, Rudo, who is only 15 years old, acts much like a child. He is quick to change his mind and steers forward towards his goals.
Due to the harsh life he had led till that point, he is insensitive towards other people, though this is not on purpose. Thanks to the valuable friendships he makes in the Abyss, however, Rudo aims to make a change and is more honest with others as well as himself. He becomes more empathetic, choosing conversation before engaging in combat.
At the same time, as the protagonist of Gachiakuta, Rudo is undoubtedly a hero. He may not show it in a traditional sense, but Rudo cares about those around him. When the Raiders tried to harm those he held dear and even attempted to coax Rudo over to their side, he swiftly turned them down and passionately fought against them for the Cleaners.
His rebellious spirit and tough exterior that mask his deep compassion and complex introspection make him a unique shonen protagonist.
How powerful is Rudo Surebrec in Gachiakuta?
Rudo Surebrec is one of the most formidable individuals in Gachiakuta, mainly due to his overpowered Vital Instrument. His inexperience and lack of strategic knowledge may hold him back during battle, but he is always able to pull through due to his protective spirit and relentlessness.
Rudo’s main ability in Gachiakuta is connected to his primary character trait, his love for trash and worthless things. Having been abandoned by his parents, he can deeply connect with other broken objects, seeing value in everything and working towards fixing them. As a result, his Vital Instrument, called 3R, is also connected to the manipulation of trash.
Through his gloves, which are part of the rare Watchman Series, Rudo can make contact with waste or the treasured possessions of others, and make more Vital Instruments. He can wield three of his created Vital Instruments at the same time, or focus all his efforts on one object, greatly enhancing its power.

Once his creations have served their purpose, they crumble away. Additionally, Rudo can assist other characters in awakening as Givers, which he had done with Follo earlier. However, how this power works remains a mystery.
Therefore, it is no overstatement to say that Rudo has the potential to become the strongest character in Gachiakuta. While others only use one Vital Instrument, he can use multiple, manipulating them based on the situation. His abilities immensely elevate every battle in the series while being a perfect fit with his personality.
