After this week's school trip episode, fans are highly anticipating the release of Gintama: 3-Z Ginpachi Sensei Episode 9. As this week's installment had a chance to allow all the characters to shine in a chaotic premise of helping out a new transfer student has caused the fandom to call it the best episode this spin-off series has offered so far.

Interestingly, Episode 8 had it all, from call-backs from the original series, an unpredictable solution, and a level of stupidity so peak that the entire fandom is still crying with laughter. According to official sources, it is confirmed that Gintama: 3-Z Ginpachi Sensei Episode 9 is going to be released on December 1, 2025. This series is available to air online on streaming platforms like YouTube (in selected regions) and Crunchyroll.

This week's episode starts on a very normal note with a good opening line, but then the writers added an easter egg that fans immediately noticed and thoroughly enjoyed on the fact that these creators are actually looking at the smallest details. When the episode starts, we are shown that the 3-Z class is in Kyoto, and Hijikata is about to continue his Seppuku bit, where he talks about the importance of maintaining discipline and sticking to rules.

Only this time, no one really wants to pay attention to his rant and disperses to have fun. This week's episode was not only funny but also had tons of classic references. For instance, the sight of Hijikata in the full Shinsengumi blue haori had longtime fans screaming. The joke practically wrote itself, and then came the point where all of the students came back to the inn.

None of them were showing any signs of following rules and were having fun in their own way. Hijikata is throwing Seppuku stickers to shame those who are about to break any rules. But somehow, he is found in the middle of an intense pillow fight. All the other teachers do not seem to care about whether students are enjoying their own bit.

What fans didn’t expect was the return of Hanako, a surprisingly obscure character from the original series. The moment her old delinquent acquaintances showed up, clearly threatening her class group, everyone knew chaos was about to hit maximum Gintama levels. Everyone dresses up like women to not get caught, as according to the rules, if students are found fighting against other school kids, they will be expelled.

After getting into an obvious disguise, they beat those who will be beaten with ease. Ginpachi enters when everything is sorted and reassures his students that everything will be taken care of. Then Episode 8 ended the chaos with one more blessing: a short post-credits photo of Ginpachi in a maiko costume.

According to the previewers of the next episode, things might shift toward the school festival arc, a storyline fans of the original 3-Z specials have been waiting for. Here is a list of things we can expect from Gintama: 3-Z Ginpachi Sensei Episode 9

  • More original Gintama references
  • The “disciplinary committee” in Gintama: 3-Z Ginpachi Sensei Episode 9 is doubling down on ensuring rules are being followed
  • Ginpachi offers zero teacher-like guidance, but until it is necessary
