Golden Kamuy Final Chapter starts on January 5, 2026, and fans are very excited. The long hunt for the Ainu gold, which began in 2018, is finally ending. After four seasons of danger, amazing Hokkaido scenery, and a very unique treasure hunt, we finally get to see the ending. Sugimoto and Asirpa’s story is about to come to a close.

The announcement dropped with a new trailer that honestly looks incredible. You'll be able to catch the Golden Kamuy Final Chapter on Tokyo MX and BS11 at 11:00 PM JST every Monday starting in January. But here's the best part for international fans: Prime Video is streaming it exclusively at the same time, so you won't need to hunt down sketchy sites to watch it.

The show will also air on Yomiuri Telecasting, Hokkaido Broadcasting, Channel NECO, Tochigi TV, and NBC Nagasaki Broadcasting. Pretty much everyone in Japan gets to watch this finale go down.

What to expect from the Golden Kamuy Final Chapter

Brain's Base is returning to handle production duties for the Golden Kamuy Final Chapter, which is great news since they did solid work on season four. Chief director Shizutaka Sugahara returns, as do character designer Takumi Yamakawa and script supervisor Noboru Takagi.

The art directors, Yukihiro Shibutani (Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai) and Mao Miyake (Natsume's Book of Friends Season 7), are joining the staff as well.

The opening theme song, Kogane no Kanata (Beyond the Gold), by Awich and ALI, had already debuted in the two prologue films that opened in Japanese theaters last October. And honestly, it is great.

The story picks up right where season four left off. Sugimoto, the "Immortal" veteran from the Russo-Japanese War, continues his dangerous quest alongside Asirpa, the skilled Ainu hunter seeking revenge for her father's murder. They're racing against Lieutenant Tsurumi's absolutely unhinged 7th Division and the legendary samurai Hijikata Toshizō to collect tattooed convict skins that form a map to massive Ainu gold reserves.

The stakes in the Golden Kamuy Final Chapter couldn't be higher, and every faction is ready to kill for their share of 20 kan of gold.

Fan reactions are through the roof

Twitter basically exploded when the trailer dropped. Fans are celebrating with posts that convey their excitement (and relief) that the finale is on the way. A viewer said that they are sad that their city won't get a local broadcast of the Golden Kamuy Final Chapter. Another admitted that they’re going to binge the whole series on a streaming service before January arrives.

Emotional messages of gratitude from fans about to watch it with everything they have poured in on social media. The hype is real, and it's completely justified. This show has been a roller coaster since episode one, mixing brutal violence with surprisingly touching moments.

The manga concluded in April 2022 after being serialized for eight years, and so anime viewers will now be able to see how Satoru Noda decided to bring this great story to a close. With over 29 million copies in print and having won plenty of awards, it has the right to be considered as one of the best seinen manga.

It’s the way it combines historical fiction with Ainu culture, brutal action scenes, unexpectedly funny humor, and genuinely deep character development that makes it special. It won the Manga Taisho award in 2016 and the prestigious Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize in 2018 for good reason.

Conclusion

If you haven’t started, well, now’s your chance to catch up in time for the Golden Kamuy Final Chapter premiere. Crunchyroll has the earlier seasons with subtitles and English dubs, if that’s your pleasure.

It hooks you immediately with its one-of-a-kind plot and never lets go, offering up nonstop excitement, nuanced character interactions (or lack thereof), and some of the most unforgettable side characters in any TV show ever. And the way it showcases Ainu culture with actual linguistic supervision? Chef's kiss. Get ready for January 5 because this final chapter is going to be one hell of a ride.
