The In the Clear Moonlit Dusk anime tells a story about identity and true friendship. Yoi Takiguchi has always been seen as a beautiful young man throughout her whole life; this has led to lots of female classmates admiring her from a distance, treating her like "the prince" from shoujo comics.

As a result, Yoi has felt completely lost and out of place because of all the times she was mistaken for a male, so it's been hard for anyone to see her for who she really is.

Now there's a change in the picture with the appearance of Kohaku Ichimura, an 'honest-to-goodness' "prince", who can see and believe in her womanhood. For Yoi, this is the first time someone is actually looking past physical attributes at what she really is.

Because of this newfound attention, Yoi becomes confused and does not know what to do with all these feelings. This story follows how the two characters, both called "prince", deal with their developing romance as well as discover their sense of self.

UNISON SQUARE GARDEN takes center stage in the In the Clear Moonlit Dusk anime musical landscape. The rock band, whose members have publicly expressed their admiration for Yamamori's works, created both theme songs specifically for this adaptation. The opening theme song is called “Uruwashi,” which translates to Beautiful, and the song is an excellent reflection of the beautiful atmosphere created in this series. The ending theme song, “Azalea no Kaze” (Azalea Wind), has a softer sound, yet just as powerful and beautiful a feeling compared to the opening song.

It should also be noted that, while on the “UNISON SQUARE GARDEN TOUR 2025-2026”, UNISON SQUARE GARDEN first performed the opening song on the same day that the PV was released. The live version of the opening song gave fans a preview of what to expect from the anime's soundtrack. The background score for this anime is being done by Tsubasa Ito, who has worked as a composer on many series, such as Strike the Blood and Akame ga Kill.

What to Expect from the Premiere

The promotional video of the In the Clear Moonlit Dusk anime offers glimpses of key scenes that manga readers will recognize. Scenes like "Yoi" walking through his school halls illuminated by the light of the moon, set the mood for this series. "Kohaku" reaching out to "Yoi" shows that their bond is getting stronger. The quick shots of shy smiles and knowing glances show us that this version of the anime will stay true to how the manga depicted its romantic development.
