The series In The Clear Moonlit Dusk is refreshing and a unique twist on the typical romance story. The main character, Yoi Takiguchi, has an androgynous look and is called the "Prince" at school, all because of how others perceive her. But when she meets someone who truly sees Yoi, things quickly become different.

The anime launches January 11, 2026, at 16:30 JST on TBS and all the stations affiliated with it, in Japan. Crunchyroll will allow everyone outside of Japan to watch the anime on the same day as it airs in Japan.

In The Clear Moonlit Dusk tells the sweet story of high school student, Yoi Takiguchi, who has some really interesting physical characteristics, including being tall, deep-voiced, and having good looks. Because of these traits, most of her peers think she is a boy, and this is the reason she is nicknamed "The Prince" at her school. Yoi has dealt with this misunderstanding gracefully - until she meets Kohaku Ichimura-senpai.

Ichimura becomes the first person to truly see Yoi for who she is—a girl struggling with her identity and how others perceive her. The dynamic between two "princes"—one who never wanted the title and another who embodies it naturally—creates a unique romantic narrative.

East Fish Studio handles the animation production under the direction of Yusuke Maruyama, who previously served as assistant director on Lycoris Recoil. The series composition comes from Ayumu Hisao, known for work on I'm in Love with the Villainess. Character designs are crafted by Yuki Fukuda, whose previous credits include Insomniacs After School. Tsubasa Ito composes the music.

Yoi is finally recognized and accepted for who she is by Ichimura, as a girl trying to find out who she is and how other people view her. The way the audience sees Ichimura, an unintentional "prince," and Yoi, a true "prince," leads to a very special love story.

Viewing Recommendations

To get the most out of the show, consider reading the early chapters so you know what is going on with Yoi's character and how the world she's living in works. The anime will also be made for people who don’t read the manga, so you can enjoy watching without reading.

Crunchyroll subscribers should add In the Clear Moonlit Dusk to their watchlists now to receive notifications when episodes become available. The platform typically releases episodes weekly, following the Japanese broadcast schedule.

With its January 11 premiere rapidly approaching, In the Clear Moonlit Dusk represents one of the most promising romance anime of early 2026. Wait to see what happens with its strong staff of popular authors and composers behind it all, as well as emotional soundtracks.
