The Boruto series is progressing steadily, and fans are on the edge of their seats as each chapter is released. The latest chapter was released earlier this week, and it focused on Shikamaru as well as Inojin, who is now “colluding” with Kashin Koji and Boruto. That being said, the fans are slightly worried about Sasuke’s radio silence in the series. Masashi Kishimoto and Mikio Ikemoto haven’t given Sasuke screen time during the past few chapters.

Is Sasuke dead in Boruto? No, Sasuke is not dead in the Boruto series. The manga has not explicitly stated anything about Sasuke’s status at the moment. However, there are other indicators in the series that prove the same. Currently, the Divine Tree entities are taking over Konohagakure in an attempt to devour the targets that they had set. While the battle rages on, Sasuke’s existence can be proved by the presence of one character in particular - Hidari.

He is the Divine Tree entity who managed to gain sentience after sealing Sasuke Uchiha. At the time of writing, Sasuke’s chakra is being drained every second that Hidari exists. Therefore, time is of the essence, and that is why Kashin Koji, along with Boruto, is putting an end to this problem. Sasuke has an exceptionally high chakra reserve. This will buy Boruto and his comrades just enough time to take down the Divine Tree entities.

That being said, there is one thing that Sasuke requires if he wishes to undo his seal. The Shinobis of Konohagakure must retrieve the Thorn Soul Bulb after defeating Hidari. This will undo the seal and stop draining his chakra. When this is done, Sasuke can focus on his healing and regeneration under Sakura’s care. She is the most skilled Medical Kunoichi in the village. There is no doubt that Sasuke would return to his original state once the Thorn Soul Bulb is retrieved. That being said, this hasn’t taken place in the Two Blue Vortex installment at the time of writing.

He will no longer play an important role in the plot progression. One of the core motifs in the manga is the emphasis on the next generation. The likes of Sasuke and Naruto had their opportunity to influence the world, and they did. Now the spotlight is on the next generation. Therefore, the likes of Boruto, Sarada, Kawaki, and Himawari Uzumaki will dictate the narrative of the series.

Sasuke is an important mentor who trained the protagonist during the three years they spent after fleeing from Konohagakure. Sasuke’s role as a mentor has been fulfilled for the most part during that time period. That being said, he could offer the protagonist some sound advice from time to time. He could also lend a hand in battle. However, there is a vast difference between Sasuke and Boruto, with the latter being leagues ahead of his mentor. Therefore, Sasuke will retire as a side character who played an important part in shaping the future generation of Shinobis and Kunoichis in Konohagakure.

In summation, Sasuke is not dead in the manga series. He is in a sealed state, and the only way to release him from it would be to defeat Hidari. The Divine Tree entity’s defeat will release the Thorn Soul Bulb, which in turn is necessary to undo the seal. However, time is running out as his chakra is being drained constantly.
