Jujutsu Kaisen thrives on raw power, cursed energy, and the constant struggle to rise above fate. But within this chaos, one question stirs heated debates across the fandom—did any of Satoru Gojo’s students truly deserve the title of strongest? With Gojo’s death, the pressure to rise to the top fell squarely on his pupils.

The answer lies not just in brute force but in mastery, growth, and will. While several students displayed moments of greatness, only Yuta Okkotsu and Kinji Hakari consistently rose to a level that commands respect from allies and enemies. While Gojo's faith in his pupils runs deep, the gap between potential and reality remains devastatingly wide. As for the first-year and second-year students, they simply lack the fundamental tools needed to challenge the master of the Limitless technique.

Yuji Itadori entered Jujutsu Kaisen with superhuman physicality and natural sorcery instincts. His soul-swapping cursed technique develops into a compelling ability in later manga arcs. Yet Gojo's original confidence was likely based on Sukuna's techniques transferring to his vessel. Without the King of Curses' power boost, Yuji's offensive capabilities pale compared to true special grade threats.

Megumi Fushiguro wields the ancient Ten Shadows Technique, a cursed ability said to rival the Limitless technique. This ancient rivalry suggests equal potential between the inherited techniques. However, Gojo's decisive victory over Sukuna while wielding Ten Shadows shattered this myth. Individual mastery trumps bloodline legacy every time.

Nobara Kugisaki’s Straw Doll technique is effective in regular fights but lacks the overwhelming force to challenge top-tier opponents. Her resonance attacks provide reliable damage output against most opponents. Special grade curses like Mahito demonstrated her technique's limitations by shrugging off direct hits.

Among the second-year students of Jujutsu Kaisen, Toge Inumaki's Cursed Speech technique creates a dangerous feedback loop that damages his throat with each use. This self-destructive limitation prevents sustained elite combat and makes him unsuitable for prolonged battles. Panda's three-core system offers tactical flexibility, but his limited cursed energy reserves cannot support extended confrontations.

Additionally, Maki Zenin underwent a dramatic transformation after Mai's sacrifice, fully awakening her Heavenly Restriction to match Toji Fushiguro's legendary physical prowess. Her enhanced perception and incredible work ethic enabled her to defeat multiple grade-one sorcerers. Unfortunately, even Toji fell to Gojo once the Limitless user awakened his true potential.

The Only Real Threats in Jujutsu Kaisen

Yuta Okkotsu represents the most legitimate challenger to Gojo's supremacy among the student roster. Climbing to special-grade status in just a few months shows just how gifted he is and hints at even greater abilities yet to come. His copy technique grants unparalleled versatility, allowing seamless switching between multiple stolen abilities during combat. His cursed energy reserves even rival those of ancient powerhouses.

Yuta’s biggest drawback in Jujutsu Kaisen is how much energy he uses compared to Gojo, whose Six Eyes make his Limitless technique run almost effortlessly. If Yuta masters similar efficiency principles, he could theoretically surpass his teacher through sheer technical versatility. His mysterious domain expansion hints at the ability to weaponize any copied technique simultaneously.

Kinji Hakari embodies pure gambling chaos with his Idle Death Gambit technique. Landing a jackpot grants him unlimited cursed energy and automatic healing, reportedly exceeding Gojo's regeneration speed. During these four-minute windows, Hakari achieves temporary invincibility that could challenge anyone in Jujutsu Kaisen. However, his technique's unpredictable nature makes consistent performance impossible.

Hakari's fundamental flaw remains his lack of sophisticated offensive applications for unlimited energy. Raw power without proper channeling turns him into a glass cannon—dangerous but vulnerable, where one missed gamble proves fatal. Also, focusing mainly on hand-to-hand combat leaves him vulnerable to Gojo.

In short, Gojo's confidence in his students reflects his understanding of their untapped potential rather than their current abilities. Yuta and Hakari in Jujutsu Kaisen represent the most realistic candidates for eventual supremacy. Yet, surpassing the strongest sorcerer requires more than raw talent or temporary power spikes. It demands consistent excellence, strategic thinking, and mastery of fundamental concepts.
