Kaiju No. 8 chapter 126 recap

Chapter 126 of Kaiju No. 8 was filled with action, featuring the Defense Force’s final stand against the terrifying Meireki Era Mega Monster, also called Meireki. Having been revealed as the main antagonist that Kaiju No. 9 was restricting, its appearance signalled the approaching end of the world.

Nevertheless, the Defense Force continued their efforts towards facing it for the sake of humanity. The newest chapter began with Mina Ashiro launching a powerful attack from her Keraunos, only to be countered by Meireki’s own beam.

While Mina did not give up and continued rapid firing with her weapon, it was to no avail. Right when the situation seemed dire, however, Kikoru Shinomiya, armed with Kaiju No. 4’s weapon, appeared on top of Meireki. Pushing past her limits, she could release up to 93% of its power.

Dedicating her final strike to Isao, Kikoru’s valiant blow made Meireki’s core appear. In the final panel of chapter 126, Kikoru called out to Kafka, telling him to finish the job. The chapter ends with a visual of the protagonist preparing to land a blow on the Meireki Era Mega Monster’s core.

What to expect from Kaiju No. 8 chapter 127 (speculative)?

The latest chapter of Kaiju No. 8 was one of its most important, as it marked a crucial juncture in the story’s future. As Kafka prepares to complete the battle against Meireki, if his attack should succeed, it would cause the death of the most dangerous antagonist in the series. Therefore, it would end the grudge that is possessed by the Kaiju inside Kafka, and would essentially conclude the manga.

Depending on the wishes of the creator, Naoya Matsumoto, this may happen, though it would likely agitate fans of the series, who have expressed highly divisive opinions about the latest chapters. Conversely, and in line with typical shonen traits, the more probable outcome is that yet another twist is introduced to the tale.

Since the core of the Meireki Era Mega Monster is shielded, Kafka’s attack may fail, allowing the monster to regenerate. It may also receive yet another power-up that would finally result in the main cast facing losses.
