What to expect from Kaiju No. 8 chapter 129 (speculative)?

As the final chapter of the manga, Kaiju No. 8 chapter 129 will likely begin by confirming that Kafka is still alive, followed by Mina, Kikoru, and the rest of his friends breathing a sigh of relief and thanking him for his heroic actions.

Following this, the rest of the loose ends will begin being tied up, as Kafka shares a heartfelt conversation with Mina and recounts Isao's final moments with Kikoru. Additionally, it will most probably be revealed that the protagonist has lost his Kaiju transformation powers, forcing him to readjust to normal life and find a new way of contributing to humanity's safety.

Kaiju No. 8 chapter 128 recap

Kaiju No. 8 chapter 128 picks up from where the previous installment left off, with Kafka having landed a devastating blow on the Meireki Era Mega Monster, destroying its core. The new installment shows the results of his attack, as most of Meireki's body is blown away and it lets out a fearsome screech.

As the Defense Force looked on anxiously and expectantly, the personnel at headquarters revealed that the antagonist's vital signs were negative and that it had been beaten. This led to widespread jubilation, as all the other monsters also began dying. However, the celebrations were abruptly halted as Mina, Reno, and others saw Kafka lying unconscious.

Since the vengeful source of his powers had been satisfied, he was fading away along with them. Nevertheless, Kafka tried consoling himself, knowing he had given it everything he had, and had fulfilled his promise to Mina. He began reminiscing about all the connections he had made in his life, thanking them before what seemed to be his approaching death.

In the nick of time, however, Isao Shinomiya appeared, stating that he wouldn't allow Kafka to die. The protagonist then noticed that the consciences fused to Meireki had finally been set free, after which Isao thanked Kafka. In response, Kafka apologized for the destruction caused by Kaiju No. 9 in Tokyo.

Isao explained that the same had happened with Kaiju No. 6, and that humanity learned and adapted after each of its countless struggles. He shared how the world bounced back stronger every time, assuring that the same would happen again. Isao then gave Kafka his final mission, asking him to help humans rebuild society and assist them in facing the threats to come.

Just as Kafka began apologizing to Isao for not being able to remain in the world due to turning his heart into a core, Isao pierced his chest and placed what is presumed to be his own heart into Kafka. He explained how he didn't need it any longer and asked Kafka to take care of everyone, especially Kikoru.

Back on the battlefield, Meireki's body began collapsing, causing Kafka to fall to the ground. Thankfully, he was caught by Reno, after which Kikoru approached him, filled with concern. The chapter ends with Kafka's Kaiju transformation fading away, revealing his unconscious face.
