When the Kaiju No. 8 franchise made its appearance on the Super Stage in Jump Festa 2026, it gave an announcement to fans that confirms that the story is going to officially continue. The cast of this series reveals that the anime adaptation of the manga has started production on the Final Chapter. This would mean that this popular title of Shonen Jump+ will finally end.

While this is bittersweet news for fans, there is an additional major announcement to be made. In Jump Festa 2026, fans were also treated to the reveal of a brand-new original short anime titled “Narumi’s Week at Work,” centered on fan-favorite Gen Narumi. This reveal came a little while after the anime had finished airing its second season.

Moreover, fans are excited for this news because in Jump Festa’s Kaiju No. 8 stage, many key cast members made an appearance, including Masaya Fukunishi (Kafka Hibino), Wataru Kato (Reno Ichikawa), Kengo Kawanishi (Soshiro Hoshina), and Koki Uchiyama (Gen Narumi). Their addition just added more weight and finality to the reveal.

A new visual and promotional trailer for the Final Chapter was revealed during Jump Festa 2026. The second this started airing, fans immediately noticed that it had a darker and more intense tone. The video showed us how Defence Force members got into a battle against evolved kaiju threats, pushing even elite fighters to their limits. The story has reached a point where slacking off for a second is not an option.

Central to the teaser is Kafka Hibino’s unwavering resolve as Kaiju No. 8, as well as the lingering uncertainty surrounding Isao Shinomiya. For now, there is no further information on the release date. We will have to wait a little longer before the production team releases that news. Overall, the trailer has made it more than clear that the final arc will fully embrace the manga’s endgame stakes.

During the Jump Fest 2026 event, we also got a few words from the mangaka of this series. The creator has wholeheartedly thanked fans and the cast members for giving support of this franchise. While the manga has finished serializing, the creator has emphasized that Kaiju No. 8 as a franchise is far from over. Currently, there is ongoing collaboration with anime and game production teams to create new scenes and ideas.

Jump Festa 2026 also confirmed the production of an original short anime titled “Narumi’s Week at Work” (also referred to as Narumi’s Ordinary Days). It is a spin-off focused on the everyday life of Gen Narumi. He is one of the fan-favorite characters who is the First Division captain in Kaiju No. 8 and is seen as one of the strongest individuals introduced.

As this is a spin-off, fans should expect a lighter tone from this series. While we still do not have a set release date, the spark within the fandom is lit, and they are waiting for the day when this will be released so they can watch their favorite character get the spotlight.
