Fist of the North Star roars back with vengeance written across its seven scars. Warner Bros. Japan finally showed off a full commercial of it at Tokyo Comic Con (TCC) during their Saturday presentation. The TCC was proof that even after 40 years, Hokuto Shinken still knows how to get fans fired up like in Year 0.

On December 6, 2023, we got to see what fans have been waiting for. Voice actors Kōji Yusa (Shin) and Saori Hayami (Yuria) will be voicing the main characters Shin and Yuria, who have suffered tragedies that push Kenshiro to a bloody path in the wastelands. Now that we know who will be involved with the production team and we've seen the official trailer, we can see that it is actually happening.

This just-released PV features a heated fight between Kenshiro and Shin; this rivalry is instrumental to the plot of early Fist of the North Star because Shin stole Kenshiro's soon-to-be bride, Yuria, and sent him off on a journey through the radioactive wasteland.

TMS Entertainment's Hiroshi Maeda is going to be directing it, while Kazuma Ogasawara will be co-directing. There is a very talented group in the creative team; Maeda has experience as a cinematographer, and Ogasawara has directed episodes of various series, so it'll look great.

Production Team Assembled

Kazuhiko Inukai has been brought in to oversee all the series scripts, while Naoki Hisatsune will lead the character design, previously working on earlier Fist of the North Star projects, ensuring the characters will maintain a similar look to what fans have seen in past titles. The music for the series will be composed by Yūki Hayashi, who recently finished My Hero Academia and brings his talents to Fist of the North Star.

Several studios are working together on the animation side of things. NIA ANIMATION and Kishida Studio BACU are collaborating to make this series come to life by using their combined resources to re-create the gritty, post-apocalyptic setting that originally turned Fist of the North Star into a massive success.

There are tons of awesome voice actors included. Along with Shunsuke Takeuchi voicing the seven-scarred hero Kenshiro, we already know we’ll hear Daiki Yamashita’s voice for Bat (the little kid who stole from Ken), and M.A.O, who is voicing the orphan girl, Rin, as well as Wataru Takagi as Jagi (the hooded guy), Tsuguo Mogami as Toki (Ken’s brother), and Taiten Kusunoki playing the evil Raoh.

Together, they create a blend of experienced performers and up-and-coming newbies to combine the traditional storytelling style found in Fist of the North Star with the more current flavors of anime storytelling and aesthetics.

The series transports viewers to the year 199X, where nuclear devastation has transformed Earth into a barren wasteland. Survivors struggle for basic necessities while violent gangs terrorize the weak. Kenshiro, the badass master of the dangerous martial art "Hokuto Shinken", comes into this mess trying to find his kidnapped girlfriend.

But as he fights to get back whatever is left of his woman's spirit, he finds out that he has also become a symbol of hope for the forgotten people of this barren wasteland, as well as the other warriors of brotherhood fighting against oppression, darkness, greed, and tyranny.

The show is about redemption through brotherly love and the price one must pay to protect those who cannot protect themselves.

Release Window Confirmed

The highly anticipated new adaptation of Fist of the North Star won't hit the airwaves or stream onto the internet until 2026, but we have been reassured that progress is being made, due to the teasers that are being released at various conventions, including Tokyo Comic Con.

Fist of the North Star is a classic that has thousands of dedicated fans worldwide who are all ready for something fresh and different. With the experience of legendary directors, along with an all-star cast of voice actors, and state-of-the-art animation techniques, this version of the Fist of the North Star has a good chance of being considered the definitive version.
