MARRIAGETOXIN is the upcoming anime version of the manga MARRIAGETOXIN by Joumyaku and Mizuki Yoda, a dark-romantic comedy, action-based story. It was first serialised in April 20, 2022, with Shonen Jump+, and has gained a following due to its combination of romance, assassination, and identity crises.

It has been confirmed that MARRIAGETOXIN is getting adapted into a TV anime, and that it will be released in 2026. This was announced with the launch of a promotional site and a teaser trailer, with the core staff and cast revealed. The anime is being produced by Bones Film, and returning creators have been confirmed to play major roles.

The MARRIAGETOXIN (marriagetoxin-anime.com) site was launched and included teaser images, staff and cast bios, and links to promotional materials. In the teaser video (on YouTube), the character designs are shown, as well as some snippets of animation scenes, such as shots of the main couple and some dramatic poison-covered battles.

The anime will also adapt the premise of the manga. MARRIAGETOXIN focuses on Hikaru Gero of the Poison Clan, which is a family of assassins. Since Gero has never been romantically involved, he sees marriage as a hopeless affair until his sister is threatened unless he produces an heir. In order to rescue her, Gero enlists the help of a professional marriage fraudster, Mei Kinosaki, who teaches him how to date and have relationships.

The trailer sets the stage for the main conflict: the transformation attempt of Gero with the help of Kinosaki, but the scenes of action, romantic relations/tension, and identity conflicts are interchanged. We witness early animation of fighting and effects of poison and emotionally-charged close-ups. The voices of new characters, such as antagonists or supporting characters, are also briefly presented.

The announcement has publicly confirmed the staff and cast. MARRIAGETOXIN will be directed by director Motonobu Hori (of Metallic Rouge). Kimiko Ueno monitors series composition and scripts. Kohei Tokuoka handles character design. Taisei Iwasaki and Yume Yamaguchi compose the music. The voice actors are Haruki Ishiya as Gero and Shion Wakayama as Mei Kinosaki, and they bring considerable star power to the adaptation.

The ensemble is familiar: Haruki Ishiya has played key roles in Hibike! Euphonium and other anime and Shion Wakayama is known for her role in Dandadan. Their combination indicates that the production aims at using the powerful voice performances to play dramatic and romantic scenes.

The adaptation is also supported by serialization information. By August 2025, MARRIAGETOXIN will be edited into 14 books by Shueisha, and is still ongoing. Viz Media also licenses it to release it in English. The concept behind MARRIAGETOXIN is being made into an elegant anime version that will blend romance with action and personal interests.

MARRIAGETOXIN – Scope, Staff & What to Expect

The presence of Bones Film and regular staff placement indicates that the production is of high quality. The direction of Motonobu Hori, together with the scripting of Ueno, suggests that action and character drama have been well balanced.

The anime is probably going to retain some of the fundamental arcs in which the training of Gero under Kinosaki is the central focus, exposing their relationship and the secrets of the Poison Clan. The trailer reveals brief scenes of violence and fight against the assassination victims and stress over the health or identity of Kinosaki. Look forward to romantic development and deadly challenges.

With the cast and staff, the adaptation can make some changes to the pacing, add animated-only sequences, and also change some panel-to-motion transitions in dramatic effect. The music by Iwasaki and Yamaguchi is likely to focus on the emotional and action themes. In the teaser, the hints about the most important leitmotifs related to the theme of poison and romantic tension are already visible.

The upcoming anime is set to expand the popularity of the series, bringing the stress and tenderness of the manga to the audio-visual experience. With all these elements being there, the fans have a good reason to expect an accurate and energetic adaptation.

In conclusion, the anime MARRIAGETOXIN will debut as an anime in 2026 under Bones Film, based on the manga written by Joumyaku and Mizuki Yoda. The main characters and crew members are verified (Hori, Ueno, Ishiya, and Wakayama), and the trailer and the site show some of the most important moments and design elements. The series will feature an assassin who is forced to marry and train to save his sister. The plot provides an unusual combination of romance and action which makes MARRIAGETOXIN an adaptation to look forward to in the next anime season.
