Yo Shindo is a relatively secondary My Hero Academia character, but still plays an interesting part in the story. While he isn’t a main hero, his short time on screen leaves a solid impression. The anime introduces him as a confident student from Ketsubutsu Academy. His wide smile and relaxed attitude make him easy to remember, especially during the Provisional Hero License Exam arc.
In My Hero Academia, Yo Shindo’s personality can be a little tricky. At first, he comes off as friendly and polite. But many fans noticed how fake that charm can be. He acts like the chill, relaxed guy, but he’s just pretending. He does this so that people feel comfortable around him.
His personality is a moving target that changes depending on his mood. That makes him different from some of the other, more serious heroes in My Hero Academia. Even though some might see this as bad, he sees it as being tactful. He is a natural leader and is quite good at directing people.

Though he’s not part of U.A. High, Yo Shindo represents the many other schools in My Hero Academia. His presence reminds fans that there are many strong young heroes outside the main cast. Ketsubutsu Academy might not get as much attention as U.A., but characters like Yo give it some spotlight. His not being from the U.A. and still having that amount of appearance means something.
Like most students in the series, Shindo is in the Hero Program under the hero name Grand. Shindo’s Quirk, called Vibrate, is a powerful one. It allows him to send vibrations through whatever he touches. In My Hero Academia, Yo’s quirk is utilized in fights as well as in rescue operations. He has the ability to make the ground tremble and can even trigger minor earthquakes.
But his quirk also comes with a problem. If he overuses his Quirk, he could hurt himself. It is an intriguing dynamic, as My Hero Academia shows that every quirk has a downside. But the other upside to his quirk is that he can develop a resistance to quirks that also cause vibrations.
Some of his appearances in My Hero Academia

During the Provisional Hero License Exam, we see Shindo using his quirk for the first time. He uses his Vibrate quirk to cause a massive earthquake, which splits Class 1-A up. Down the line, he took down a couple of Pro Hero Gang Orca’s Sidekicks and squared up against the original.
In the Dark Hero Arc, Grand and Turtle Neck, another hero, were sent to evacuate some civilians when they came up against Muscular. Muscular had broken out of prison and was looking for a fight. Grand goes all out and uses his ultimate move, Tremoring Earth, to attack Muscular. Unfortunately, it was not enough, as his layers of muscle were too much. Ultimately, Deku arrives and puts an end to the fight.
Later in My Hero Academia, Yo Shindo reappears during the Final War Arc. He takes his role as a student hero more seriously at this point. We see him, Ms. Joke, and other students from Ketsubutsu Academy High School assisting Hound Dog in capturing Skeptic. Skeptic was working for the Paranormal Liberation Front and had hacked the security system at U.A.
While Shindo doesn’t play a major part in the series anymore, My Hero Academia has done him a lot of good. Eight years after the Final War arc at the end of the manga, he is ranked as the number 20 Pro Hero. He did well for himself to be ranked that fairly high.
Conclusion
Yo Shindo isn’t the strongest or most famous in My Hero Academia, but he’s still important. He’s smart, brave, and willing to help. There are many great characters in the show, and he is one of them.
