Episode 4 of this season gave fans more insight into the tragic past of All For One(AFO). Although fans were expecting it to be more heavy on the battle, this particular episode focused on giving lore rather than intense action.

The episode starts by introducing us to an unnamed lady who is pregnant. She is sitting in a shady alleyway and drinking. This lady is the mother of All for One and his brother. She gave birth to twin boys, but due to an undisclosed reason, she died right after these boys were out of her.

Here we are shown that one of the boys was clearly bigger than the other. They were born in a time when the concept of Quirk had just started to exist. As a baby, AFO believed that anything within his reach belonged to him and had stolen his mother's quirk.

As these boys grew, it was clear that the other twin was physically fragile and relied on his brother. But unlike AFO, he was more empathetic and tried his best to make his brother become a better person.

It was soon revealed that AFO is a character who was evil since he was born, and there was no redemption. He thought his brother was his possession and named him Yoichi, and forcefully gave him a quirk without knowing that his brother already had one.

Due to an incident, AFO killed his brother, but it was too late by then, as Yoichi had passed on his powers to the man who had come to save him. This origin story served as both a tragic backstory and a reflection of My Hero Academia’s core theme, the eternal battle between selflessness and selfishness, between giving and taking.

During the last part of the episode, Bakugo takes the spotlight and beats up AFO to the point that he ceases to exist. By the end, Bakugo stood victorious, symbolically ending the legacy of “All For One” and proving that even without inherited powers, sheer determination and courage could defy destiny itself.
