Hidan had the power of immortality in Naruto. After he teamed up with Kakuzu, they became the Zombie Combo. Hidan performs sacrificial rituals that grant him immortality, making him practically unkillable through conventional means. What sets him apart from others is that he cannot be killed because of physical injuries, so he uses it to his advantage to fight recklessly. Because he lacked being a master of ninjutsu, genjutsu, or high-level chakra control, he makes it up with these immortality powers. He is currently still alive in Naruto, but cut off from the outside world as he is trapped by being buried alive.

9) Kakuzu

Kakuzu was a greedy ninja who valued money above all. He was a rare user of all five elemental styles as he had implanted hearts of all his victims in his body, which allowed him access to a different chakra nature. During battle, Kakuzu could separate his hearts into masked monsters who could fight individually by themself. Furthermore, his regeneration abilities allowed him to reattach severed parts of his body, making him almost unbeatable. He was one of the characters who fought with the first Hokage and survived. Even if he was an underrated member of Akatsuki, he was defeated by Team 7 and Kakashi.

Deidara had the power of explosives, he used his mouth on his palms to mold explosive clay into various forms. Each of his creations was extremely potent and dangerous, and Deidara could use them for long-range attacks, too, by launching these explosives in the sky. Throughout the story, he is shown to be a perfectionist who challenges himself to surpass the power of Sharingan. What sets him apart from others is his strategic mind, as he can pinpoint his opponent's weaknesses quickly and formulate his attacks accordingly. This shows his incredible strategic mind that directly complements his explosive attacks.

She also co-founded this organization with Yahiko and Nagato. In her homeland, Konan was also known as the “Angel of God” due to her paper wings. It was also because of her ethereal appearance. Her ability allowed her to turn her body into thousands of sheets of paper, manipulate them to create weapons, and even make deadly paper bombs. One of her most iconic techniques is Paper Ocean, in which Konan embedded 600 billion explosive tags into a sea of paper. It kept on detonating continuously for 10 minutes. During a battle, she is a fierce warrior, and she fights to make the world a better place. Ultimately, her tactical mind, experience in battle, and intellect make her one of the strongest members of the group.

Also known as “Sasori of the Red Sand,” he was a prodigy of the Puppet Technique. This allowed him to be immune to aging and pain while also keeping him safe from most physical attacks. Sasori could turn his body into a human puppet, and this transformation further helped him to hide weapons and poison chakra threads directly into his body, turning him into a walking death machine. He had over 100 puppets who were enhanced with deadly features to help him fight. What set him apart from others was that Sasori maintained emotional detachment and fought with chilling precision. Because of this, he is one of the deadliest members of Akatsuki and is feared across the nation.

This enhanced weapon itself made him powerful. Also, unlike other average shinobi in Naruto, he has enough chakra to match a Jinchūriki. When Kisame is in an active battle, he could easily fight for a prolonged period without needing a break. His combat style is a combination of his brute strength and clever strategies. Finally, Kisame’s synergy with Samehada and aquatic dominance makes him a uniquely formidable foe.

Orochimaru was one of the legendary Sannin and a former Leaf shinobi. He was obsessed with finding a solution to obtain immortality and wanted to research forbidden knowledge. His strength as an Akatsuki member is not in his battle prowess but in his scientific experimentation, body modifications, and ability to transfer his consciousness into new hosts. During combat, his fighting style was unpredictable as he also had regenerative abilities to recover from physical injuries and also summon giant serpents. Additionally, he could also use Edo Tensei, a forbidden reanimation technique used to summon the dead. More than his physical abilities, his intellect made him a long-term threat to Naruto and a great asset as a member of Akatsuki.

Nagato is more famously known by his alias, Pain. He was the unofficial leader of Akatsuki for much of the series. Nagato was Jiraya’s student and was entrusted with the Rinnegan, the legendary dojutsu said to be wielded by the Sage of Six Paths himself. Using the Six Paths of Pain, he managed to control six reanimated corpses, each embedded with his abilities. One of his more terrifying techniques in Naruto was Shinra Tensei. His philosophy was to bring peace through shared pain. His battle against Jiraya and Naruto was a testament to his strength, and he could easily be classified as one of the strongest members of Akatsuki.

Itachi is the most iconic character in Naruto. He is famously known for his incredible power and his tragic backstory. Itachi was a prodigy from his clan who awakened the Sharingan at a young age and later obtained the Mangekyō Sharingan. Additionally, he effortlessly masters the art of Genjutsu, particularly Tsukuyomi, a technique that allows him to manipulate time and space in the minds of his victims. This technique was highly effective in psychologically scarring his victims, and most of the time, it traumatised them in an instant. Itachi also had a dangerous offensive like Amaterasu and Susano. Despite being terminally ill, Itachi still managed to overpower everyone, making him one of the strongest Akatsuki members.

1) Obito Uchiha (Tobi)

For most of the story, Obito Uchiha appeared to hide his true identity under a goofy personality and went as Tobi. Finally, during the final arc, he announced himself to the world, and it was revealed that he was the true mastermind behind the modern Akatsuki. He wished to use his powers to trap the world in an illusion through the Eye of the Moon Plan. Furthermore, because he also has awakened his Mangekyo Sharingan, Obito had a powerful attack known as Kamui. It allowed him to be practically unbeatable. His cunning, dojutsu mastery, and god-tier strength make him one of the most powerful shinobi and the strongest character in Akatsuki’s legacy in Naruto.

In conclusion, Akatsuki in Naruto is recognized as a dangerous organization because each of its members is incredibly strong. Even their weakest members were notoriously famous for being successful countless times with their missions and were feared by everyone. Just taking their names would lead a normal shinobi to avoid engaging in a battle with them. Akatsuki remains one of the most compelling and fearsome groups in anime history.
