Say hello to Shinchan this December for heaps more fun and trouble! The five-year-old prankster is back with new episodes of that wicked style, with all-new Shinchan’s shenanigans. They’ll bring you tons of laughs and wild family moments.
Starting in December 2025, Sony YAY! will add new Shinchan episodes for kids to watch at home over winter break from school. 2025 will premiere this season to coincide with peak vacationing for kids looking for entertainment when they are home in the lazy afternoons and festive evenings.
The anime has exploded in popularity over the past few months, and its current share of slots (15%) indicates it is number one in its time slot. Their growth has led to increased programming during Christmas/Winter Break, which has the highest number of viewers for TV shows during the year. They created new content for this holiday season to connect with one of their biggest successes, Sony YAY!
A Celebration of Global Animation

Sony YAY!’s Head of Programming, Ronojoy Chakraborty, says he’s excited for the December launch and that the series continues to be loved by kids all over India. According to him, the holidays are the best time to offer viewers even more programming that appeals to a younger audience.

Building on Previous Success

In celebration of their 7th Anniversary on the channel, Sony YAY! created a big entrance for Shinchan as he became a part of this network in 2024. Together, they began expanding their reach within the Indian Community. The series has been previously broadcast and available for viewers to watch on Hungama TV since 2006.
Starting in May 2024, Season 17 of this show has been broadcast on Sony YAY! in India, with all of the episodes shown on the channel for the very first time. Along with these new episodes, there were also brand-new dubs in several languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Bengali, and Kannada, so everyone could enjoy the series.

The biggest difference between previous versions of the show and Sony YAY! is that they have used a completely new set of voices. The voices for the new dub are all coming from Studio Saa and directed by Artimaan Tripathi and Suresh Patel.

Expanding the Shinchan Universe

On top of all the episodic stuff, Sony YAY! has also built a wicked collection of movies. They keep showing lots of the series movies in 2024 & 2025. They show stuff like the Indian TV premieres of movies like Our Dinosaur Diary or classics like Adult Empire Strikes Back.
They’re taking it one step further. Now, there is technically a full Shinchan multiverse outside of television. They’ve got a huge array of opportunities for digital experiences, allowing kids to interact with their fave characters from multiple different perspectives, across multiple different channels!
Sony YAY! has been expanding their Shinchan programming, and it shows that they believe this franchise will be around for a long time!
