Chainsaw Man officially announced its next big anime project in the Jump Super Stage of Jump Festa 2026 on December 21, marking the further development of the franchise after the first season of its television adaptation and theatrical releases. It was announced at a special stage event where cast members were present and greatly popular amongst fans after the recent adaptations had been successful. As the manga continues to be published and with several anime-based projects currently being developed, Chainsaw Man continues to be one of the most actively developed shows by Shueisha.

It was announced that the next adaptation will be based on one of the most expected storylines of the manga, which for years had been the topic of speculation among fans. The next animated production will be Chainsaw Man, based on the International Assassins story, and sequeling the Reze Arc movie, as the series becomes immersed in the world of threats and moral anarchy that Tatsuki Fujimoto is escalating the world with.

The Jump Super Stage Chainsaw Man was aired between 16.20 and 16.50 JST and included Toya Kikunosuke (Denji), Tomori Kusunoki (Makima), Yuki Kubota (Aki Hayakawa), and Sayumi Watabe (Reze). The cast members were looking back at the expanding size of the narrative and the emotional intensity of the next arc, with multiple statements dedicated to the development of the franchise since being shown on television. Studio MAPPA was confirmed to continue with animation so as to have visual continuity with earlier Chainsaw Man projects.

In the stage event, a teaser trailer for the new adaptation was revealed. It was short but featured very impactful action cuts and newly designed visuals that suggested the anarchy and violence of the International Assassin plot. There was no release date announced or an episode count, but the teaser is a confirmation that work was already underway, making the project the third animated sequel since the first season and the Reze Arc movie.

A message written by Tatsuki Fujimoto was also read on stage. Through it, the creator showed his disbelief at his name appearing on big screens during events such as Jump Festa as something that he does not ever get used to. Voice actors were singled out by Fujiimoto, who said that their work adds dramatic weight and subtlety to his characters in a way that goes beyond what he saw in the drawing of the manga.

Other shots presented in the course of the event were a small part featuring recent Chainsaw Man manga illustrations, specifically Yoru, as per the direction the serial story takes nowadays. A brief trailer for the live-action adaptation of Look Back was also screened, reinforcing Fujimoto’s growing presence across multiple media formats.

Merchandise announcements followed the anime reveal, including details about the “Chainsaw Man Memorial Collection.” A seventh special gift for moviegoers of Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc was confirmed, available from December 20 at all screening theaters in Japan. The continued theatrical momentum was emphasized by organizers, who noted that the Reze Arc movie remains a strong performer.

Chainsaw Man: International Assassin Arc

The International Assassins Arc will be a recreation of chapters 60-70 of the Chainsaw Man manga, which contains a section that brings together assassins from other countries to meet in Japan to kill Denji. This arc broadens the range of the series greatly, presenting the conflict not in the domestic realm of Public Safety threats but at the global scale. Other characters like Quanxi and other elite killers are key players and this increases both the stakes of the narrative and the action.

It was not declared in what form the adaptation would be presented, so it is open to whether it will be a television season or a different film project. However, the scale of the arc and MAPPA’s continued involvement suggest a major production aimed at maintaining the franchise’s high profile. The announcement was also viewed as a measure in the long-term towards adapting the entirety of the original manga by Fujimoto.

In addition to anime news, it was also established that the Chainsaw Man manga will continue to be published weekly on Shonen Jump+ on Wednesday. The manga volume 23 will be released in February, which again confirms that both the print and anime versions are progressing on the same track.

To recap it all, Jump Festa 2026 was the next step to Chainsaw Man, having officially announced the International Assassins Arc adaptation. As MAPPA comes back, core cast members are involved, and Fujimoto is taking an active part in interacting with the fans, the franchise does not seem to be in the process of slowing down. As the manga continues its weekly run and the Reze Arc movie maintains strong momentum, the newly announced project positions Chainsaw Man for another major surge in global attention.
