Fate/strange Fake is way different than other Holy Grail Wars. Snowfield, a man-made American city made for killing, is an arena of a Holy Grail War where not only are there new summoning things, but also new ways of breaking the rules of the game.

The television series launches January 3, 2026, at 11:30 PM JST across Tokyo MX, BS11, Gunma TV, and Tochigi TV. The premiere runs 90 minutes, combining the Whispers of Dawn special with the debut episode. Starting January 3, regular weekly episodes will follow.

Story and Setting Overview of Fate/strange Fake

Fate/strange Fake takes the viewer to Snowfield, a western American city made specifically for a Battleground. In Snowfield, there will be a new Holy Grail War, years after the 5th Holy Grail War was finished in Japan. However, this war is extremely different from any of the previous Fate series entries because of the different rules governing it.

The story is about how some Servants are called in ways that are different from how they usually are. The Masters and Servants meet for reasons other than the Holy Grail War, creating an intricate network of friendships and betrayals.

The idea of a "False Grail War" introduces random elements into the normal formula for these games. True Servants and False Servants fight against each other and their Masters in ways that are beyond anything seen in the series' history.

Voice Cast and Characters

In the Japanese voice cast, there's a mix of experienced professionals and many talented individuals. The voice of Ayaka Sajyō, the lead character, is done by Kana Hanazawa, while Yūki Ono lends his talent to her companion Saber. The other members of the cast include Sumire Morohoshi (who plays Tiné Chelc), Tomokazu Seki (Archer), and Yū Kobayashi (Lancer).

The support characters have talented individuals such as Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (Flat Escardos), Maaya Uchida (Francesca Prelati), and Daisuke Namikawa (who reprises the role of Lord El-Melloi II).

Production Team and Music

The animation for Fate/strange Fake will be handled by A-1 Pictures. Shun Enokido and Takahito Sakazume are returning as the directors from Whispers of Dawn, and Yukei Yamada is back as well as character designer to provide a visual continuity in the franchise.

Music will be composed by Hiroyuki Sawano from Attack on Titan and Mobile Suit Gundam UC, and his epic orchestration will perfectly complement the drama and action-packed battle scenes. The opening theme "PROVANT" features SawanoHiroyuki[nZk]: Jean-Ken Johnny & TAKUMA, incorporating the talents of the MAN WITH A MISSION and 10-FEET vocalists.

For anime enthusiasts around the globe, the release of Fate/strange Fake on January 3, 2026, is a big deal. This combination of Narita's storytelling, A-1 Pictures' animation, and Sawano's music makes for an amazing viewing experience that pays tribute to the Fate brand but takes it in a different direction.
