Yomi no Tsugai (or Daemons of the Shadow Realm) is the latest manga series created by Hiromu Arakawa, the creator of the trailblazer Fullmetal Alchemist.

In December 2021, Arakawa began publishing Yomi no Tsugai in Monthly Shogun Gangan, a Square Enix magazine. The tale involves supernatural beings known as “Daemons” and two twins, Yuru and Asa, who are destined to possess immense powers. With Fullmetal Alchemist, Arakawa has a proven track record, and thus, many of its fans have been looking forward to how it will be adapted.

Yomi no Tsugai is officially slated to debut in 2026. The main cast has also been announced. The voices of Yuru, Asa, Dera, and Gabu-chan are now revealed, increasing fans' excitement.

Yuru in Yomi no Tsugai is a skilled hunter who is knowledgeable about mountains, well-versed with the bow, and in tune with nature. Yuru has a twin sister, Asa, who is identified by her eyepatch. The twins got separated at an early age. Dera is a friendly and probably helpful merchant character, and Gabu-chan is a smaller character with very recognizable physical traits, a braid, and a hood. These roles indicate the anime will heavily tilt towards the interpersonal and supernatural antagonism of the manga.

The thematic similarities of Yomi no Tsugai with Fullmetal Alchemist have to do with Hiromu Arakawa: balancing of power, moral ambiguity, family relationships, supernatural dangers, and character development through stress. The animation of Yomi no Tsugai is by the BONES (also known as Bones Film in certain media) studio, which was also involved in Fullmetal Alchemist and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.
