The anticipation around One Piece Live Action Season 2 has been sky-high, and with its release date set on March 10, 2026, it seems like Netflix has pulled all the stops when it comes to delivering one of the best live-action series to exist so far. Recently, they have released the first look at the most chaotic villain of this saga: Wapol, the tyrant of Drum Island. Before his character was revealed, the fandom was already on a celebration streak when the casting choice of Bon Clay and Portgas D. Ace information was out.

Now that we know of Rob Colletti as Wapol, it has managed to spark a fresh surge of excitement, and, honestly, the fandom is going through a collective sense of disbelief at just how accurate it is, yet it has something unique to offer. From the moment his promotional image was dropped, we now know that One Piece Live Action is not going to just be introducing Wapol; they have created the same kind of magic that was seen when Buggy made his entrance in the story.

From giving him the bulky plate armor, the jagged jaw plating, the pompous posture overflowing with corrupted royalty, it seems like around his character remains faithful, and yet somehow more intimidating than ever. For a character often played for comedic grotesqueness in the manga and anime, Netflix’s One Piece Live Action takes a different approach to show his absurdity and menace.

Fans have noted that Netflix has been taking villains rather seriously and is beautifully capturing the essence of what makes them a villain. By adding depth to them, either visually or by playing around with music and background, they are making sure that those who will watch One Piece Live Action remember these villains for a long time.

In One Piece Live Action Season 2, the character of Wapol will be the primary antagonist when the Drum Island arc starts. It is the same arc where Tony Tony Chopper will meet the Straw Hats' crew, and their lives will get intertwined. This character is iconically known for his twisted personality as a tyrant who is extremely desperate to reclaim the throne he had abandoned during Blackbeard's invasion. But right now, with the Live Action, it seems that just his character design being revealed has left a major impact on the viewers, as there is a sense of danger stirred in the heart of anyone who looks at him.

Wapol is still comic by design, but this time, his comedy is unsettling. The costume design has given him a level of gravitas he rarely had in the early manga chapters. The big question the fandom now has is how One Piece Live Action will bring his Baku Baku no Mi powers to life. If the character design alone is this impressive, fans are eagerly waiting to see whether Netflix can deliver an effects showcase worthy of Wapol’s infamously bizarre abilities.

Emotional weight meets theatrical villainy

Wapol’s arrival also means audiences will revisit some of One Piece’s most emotional storytelling. It’s no surprise, then, that fans are calling this reveal one of the show’s best yet. The comment sections exploded with praise for the casting and costuming departments. Some even joked that if these teams were athletes, their names would be hanging as championship banners. The common fan reaction around this reveal has been:

"Ngl, he looks scary. The OPLA team is actually doing great." Said one fan.
"I can’t take this seriously when it’s WAPOL 😭😂 but the costume looks great though," added another fan.
"ngl thats the scariest wapol has ever looked lmao," stated another fan.

In the end, if Season 1 proved that One Piece Live Action could translate Oda’s world faithfully, Season 2 seems determined to prove it can do so with even bolder flair. Wapol’s reveal feels like a statement, not just of accuracy, but of ambition. With only a few months left before release, the hype is only growing. And if Wapol is any indication of the quality ahead, viewers may soon find themselves hungrier than ever for Season 3.
