In recent weeks of releases and spoilers for mangaka Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece series, Imu has proved itself a terrifyingly powerful force. While fans always suspected them to be a very strong and capable fighter, their abilities truly transcend what fans could’ve predicted. This even applies to the abilities fans correctly presumed they had, such as Conqueror’s Haki.
The latest leaks for chapter 1150 not only confirm Imu as a Conqueror’s Haki user, but see them use the ability via Gunko’s body as they possess it. Moreover, their Conqueror’s Haki is shown to be incredibly powerful, with its effective range covering a large portion of Elbaph’s country. Clearly, Imu is one of the series’ most powerful Conqueror’s Haki users for this feat alone.

However, there’s something that makes Imu’s Conqueror’s Haki more dangerous than that of any other user in One Piece. This is the fact that they’re able to possess people, presumably at least the Holy Knights and the Gorosei, based on what fans know so far. Likewise, since Imu can use their Conqueror’s through the person they’re possessing, their range is effectively limitless.
In other words, Imu can simply bounce from body to body at will and launch Conqueror’s Haki blasts with unbelievable power and range. This is likewise one of, if not the single most versatile and limitless application of the ability fans have seen in the series thus far. However, there is one other application of the ability that can arguably rival Imu’s.
Joy Boy’s ability to store Conqueror’s Haki is all that can rival Imu’s usage of it in One Piece
In One Piece’s Egghead Arc, fans learned that Joy Boy had the yet–explained ability to store his Conqueror’s Haki inside of objects. While this has only been seen in the form of a knotted rope, which unleashed the Haki when untied, it can presumably be used on other objects. At the time, fans rightfully considered this to be the most versatile form of Conqueror’s Haki application.
Even in the wake of Imu flexing their own abilities, Joy Boy’s feat is still impressive and certainly still in contention to retain this title. However, a key limitation of Joy Boy’s approach is that if the object is lost or unable to be activated, then it effectively becomes useless. Regardless of how powerful the Conqueror’s Haki is, it needs to be activated to be worth anything.

Imu, meanwhile, can both possess people and unleash their Conqueror’s Haki through those they possess at will. In this way, Imu’s application of Conqueror’s Haki is much more limitless than Joy Boy’s, based on what fans currently know. As long as Imu can possess a One Piece character, they’re able to launch a blast of Conqueror’s Haki through them.
Even if this possession is restricted to the Holy Knights and the Gorosei, the two groups’ combined numbers give a major advantage. By splitting them up and sending them to different battlefields and islands, Imu can effectively launch their Conqueror’s Haki from multiple places. Being able to do so at will rather than relying on an object’s usage further gives them the edge.
Final thoughts
While current evidence suggests Imu’s application of Conqueror’s Haki is the most powerful in One Piece, there’s still plenty of story left. Likewise, it’s possible that Joy Boy’s unique methods, or those of another character, will be proven superior. However, as it stands, Imu seems to be the clear choice for the series’ strongest and most versatile Conqueror’s Haki user.
